I Love June!

June has been pretty darn hot around here. It started out pretty rainy, then went straight to 100 degree temperatures. Good thing I have my own personal Coke to keep me cool.
On the last day of preschool, Makayla got to build a car for the drive in movie. If this project was left up to Mom, it would have just been a box with maybe a steering wheel. Luckily Daddy was in charge, so her car was decked out with a steering wheel, windshield, lights, spinning wheels, and even a seat belt (safety first, people!) Makayla loved helping Daddy work on her car.

 Here's the finished product:
 * I thought the headlights looked funny... good thing it is a girl car (if you're picking up what I'm laying down)

My favorite part was the license plate that said "Kay-bugs". It was probably my favorite because I came up with it.

We have been redecorating our house, which I'll have to post pictures of later, but we had our mirror down for a while and Brynnli thought it was the funnest toy. She would give herself kisses. She's a little narcissistic, but we love her anyway!

Summer time means splash pad time! We have been to the splash pad at least four times already, and we love it!

Until we get sunburned. I swear I put sun screen on her. Now every time we go, I get a stern lecture from Makayla reminding me not to forget her "skun screen" on her back.
We also tried out Kids Club at South Towne Mall with Karly and Kenzee. It was a lot of fun! The kids got to get their faces painted

They also made a Father's Day craft and danced with the DJ. After we played in Dino Land, ate lunch and went on the carousel. We will definitely be going back next month!

Every time I go to the store, the kids ask me if they can get donuts. I told them we are not getting any more donuts because Caden only eats the chocolate part on his. He was showing us how he eats his doughnut, but first he needed to get Makayla out of "his" picture.

 Oh this boy!

We took the kids bowling one Saturday morning. I probably took this picture to show how cute Tyler was at helping the kids bowl, or maybe I just wanted to get a picture of his hott ass... wait did I just write that? Oops.
The kids had so much fun bowling!

And yes, Makayla did beat my score. It's okay. I'm confident enough in my bowling skills to acknowledge a four-year old beat me. No big deal. Whatev.

But this guy didn't beat me. Look at those amazing bowling skills... and that hott ass.
Yes, jammies, sunglasses, and a cowboy hat are a perfectly acceptable thing to be wearing at 2 in the afternoon.
Because it has been so hot lately, we've spent a lot of time in our basement. We love movie nights! Our new favorite movies are "Toy Story 3" and "Cars".
Daddy loves reading books to these two every night. He is seriously the cutest with them. And the kids absolutely love books at night. They burst into full tantrums if we can't read books.
Kyra is a regular at our house now. She comes over everyday to play. These two have so much fun, especially when Kyra gives Makayla a makeover.

Anyone know why this warming oven is so fun to babies? Seriously, every single one of our kids have loved crawling in and out of this thing. I don't get it.

To end our June posts, here's some funny sayings of the kids that really shows just how descriptive our kids have become.

Makayla:
"Mom, I'm going to die. That orange juice is so good."
"That tastes delightful!" *Delightful? What four year old says delightful?

Caden:
"And here we have some beautiful strawberries!"

Oh, and just to show how smart our kids are, here's examples of them using correct English (unlike the majority of Americans)

Makayla:
"I played with my friends so nicely"

"I didn't make my bed very well"

Caden:
"Brynnli and I are going to clean my room."

Yes, the nerdy English teacher in me gets more excited that the kids said this correctly than the fact they were cleaning their rooms by themselves.

Big Boy Bike

Caden got a new bike!
Daddy took Caden out to learn how to ride his bike, and after a lot of tries, he finally got the hang of pedaling. Now he can keep up with Makayla when she rides her bike.
We are so proud of our big boy!

9 Months Old!

Aside from not being a good listener about growing up, our little Brynn-Brynn is the perfect baby, and today she officially turns 9 months!

At 9 months Brynnli:
  • Sleeps through the night! Yea! She goes to bed at 8:00, wakes up between 5:00-6:00 to eat, plays for two hours, then it's down for her morning nap. I love getting a full nights sleep again. It is also nice to have her on a schedule so I can tell what's going on with her better.
  • Is still nursing, although if we go out in public and she needs to eat she gets a formula bottle. I was getting pretty sick of trying to keep her covered because she was more interested in watching everyone else. And let's face it, no one wants to see me nurse! I'm actually surprised to see that I've made it this long. Brynnli is my longest nurser. We'll see if she makes it to the one year mark.
  • Learned how to clap her hands. She thinks she is pretty cool now. She can also shake her head "no" and nod her head "yes".
  • Loves "mum-mums" and baby food.
  • Gets some pretty serious separation anxiety when I'm not holding her. I have a love/hate relationship with that. It is so cute when I can hold her, but a pain when I need to get things done.
  • Pulls herself up on furniture and cruises around as best as she can, but still prefers crawling.
  • Yep, still the happiest baby around! We love our Brynners!

The Pictures We Didn't Want You to See

Today Tyler and I celebrate our 6 year anniversary. I'll admit, I kinda like him. I'm pretty confident we'll make this marriage last. On the second thought, maybe I shouldn't speak too soon; we haven't hit the seven year itch yet. Better be safe and ask me if we still like each other a year from now!

I've spent the last five years posting pictures of one of the happiest days of our lives, our wedding day. Every year I try to pick out some of my favorite pictures that really highlight just how good looking we both are. But this year I thought I would post some of the pictures we didn't want you to see. Because nothing says I love you like embarrassing pictures.

When we had our engagements taken the photographer told us to make a serious face. She only had us do that once... I'll let you guess why. These are my sultry eyes.
We have a lot of pictures of us putting our foreheads together, because you know, we put our foreheads together a lot now.

And Tyler must really like my forehead because here he is kissing it, because he does that a lot now too. But seriously, could these pictures be any more awkward? You know. Just sitting here. Eyes closed. Kissing foreheads. Being weird.

The photographer told me to lay on his back. It was awkward then, and even more awkward now.
I like to call this the "Wait, what are we supposed to be doing now?" picture.

Whatever we're looking at must be really great. This is Tyler's "I'm pretending to be interested in what your talking about" face. He uses it a lot when people from the ward show up to invite him to priesthood session.
The "We just happened to be standing here and Tyler instantly fell asleep" pose.

 My turn.

In our defense, it was the longest day. And not just because it was the summer solstice.

Awkward close ups. Me and Tyler really like gum. And we have really white teeth.

They told Tyler to tell me something funny, so he told me his credit card number.
His credit card number isn't that funny anymore because I pay the bills.

We thought we would mix it up a little bit by kissing underneath the veil, because that is totally different from kissing not underneath a veil. I also like to call this picture the "Tyler's gone crazy" photo.

That's right Carson, turn your head... nobody needs to see this.

Take it easy there Bobby! Also known as the "Terry doesn't know how to dip and kiss" photo.

Whelp, there you have it, some of the best of the worst pictures for your enjoyment. Six years down, and hopefully at least 60 more to go!

Oh, and just because I can, here's a picture that really highlights just how good looking we both are six years later.
