The Last of our Bucket List

We have had such a fun summer. We have been able to do almost everything on our summer bucket list. This year has been the hottest summer on record, so we have spent a lot of time indoors trying to stay cool. Here's a few random pictures of some of the fun things we have done to end our summer:

What, doesn't everyone take their stuffed pet bunny for a walk around the block?

*Anybody want a toddler? Brynn took one bite of every strawberry, then put them back in the container.

I have never seen kids love butter noodles so much. Seriously they ask for them every night for dinner, and they have at least two helpings every time.

Makayla and Caden like to go for walks around the block in the morning. This particular day they were taking an extra long time and I started to get worried. I jumped in the car and drove around the block until I saw Makayla pushing Caden in the stroller. I love how cute these two are together.
And I love Makayla's creativity. She was playing in the dress up tote and came up with this winning outfit.
We got to go to Kids Club for one last time. It is kind of sad to think that next month it will just be me and Brynn there.
The kids love to go to Panda Express after Kids Club, and man, can these kids eat! Brynn and Caden love the noodles and Makayla had 5 veggie spring rolls.
We decided to get Brynnli's hair cut. It has been almost three years and if her hair is not in piggie tails, she looks like she is homeless.

We took her to Cookie Cutters, and Brynn got to pick her seat and what show to watch.
Because we are trying to grow her hair longer, she didn't get much cut off. Maybe half an inch, but it does look more even now.

Tyler and I have celebrated my birthday all month long (as we should!) We have been on three dates this month. We went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Sandy Amphitheater and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Hale Center Theatre. "Joseph" was amazing, and by far my favorite play I have ever seen there.
For my birthday date we dropped the kids off at Terry and Craig's for the whole day. We went to lunch at Cheesecake Factory and spent at least two hours just talking, then I got a new watch from Brighton Jewelry. We had to run one more random errand before we ended our night at The Melting Pot where we got cheese fondue and the most delicious chocolate fondue.

Seriously, I loved my birthday this year. One of my favorites to date!

We went to back-to-school night for Makayla and Caden. They got to meet their teachers and see where they sit in their classroom.

For our last fun day I took the kids to Wheeler Farm to feed the ducks. It was kind of a quick trip because it started to rain, but we had fun while we were there.

Caden had to have his Kindergarten assessment, so after we went to Menchies for frozen yogurt.

Caden started a new soccer season this month. He is playing with Copper Mountain Soccer with my cousin Amanda's little boy and Amanda's husband is coaching.

To say Caden is a little bit excited is an understatement... can't you tell from this picture? Gosh I love this kid!

So far Caden is loving soccer and is doing great!

Brynn is starting to get a mind of her own and thinks she can pick her own outfit. She insisted on wearing her rain boots to the store on one of the hottest days of the year with no rain in sight. I have learned to pick my battles with this one.
She can drive you crazy one minute, and then melt your heart the next. How is she going to be three next month?
Can time please slow down?

Back to School

We had a fantastic summer this year, but I was a little bit excited to send the kids back to school. I think they were ready too. Both Makayla and Caden started school at Elk Meadows Elementary this year.

Makayla is in 1st grade this year, which means she goes to school all day and gets to eat school lunch.

Makayla's has two teachers this year: Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Knackstedt. Her favorite subject is reading, and at 6 years old she wants to be a mom when she grows up.

Makayla is in the same class as Haylie again this year. They were excited to walk in together.

And with that she was off. I was never really that sad when Makayla went to preschool or even when she went to Kindergarten last year. She was just so excited and ready for it. But 1st grade has been harder for me (yes, it is all about me).  I think it's because you realize they have been with you for their whole life, and now they are going to be gone every single day for six hours... six hours, that's a long time! I was so ready to pick her up the first day and hear all about it.

Makayla said she loved school and she told me they got three recesses. She said she liked eating school lunch and she likes her teachers. She said she made a new friend, Oakley. I can't wait to see her blossom this year.

Then about a week later this handsome boy started Kindergarten. Can you believe it? My little Buddy is already in Kindergarten!

Caden's teacher is Ms. Comte and his favorite subject is math. At five years old Caden wants to be a super hero when he grows up. And if you don't think he is the most handsome boy you have ever seen, you need to get your eyes checked!

I thought for sure Caden would have a hard time with school because he seemed a little nervous whenever we would talk about it, but the first day I walked him up there, he got to play on the playground for a little bit, and then the bell rang, he lined up, and just that that he was gone.
But just a few short hours later I got to pick him up again, and he had a great first day! He said they got to color a picture and his teacher read them a really funny story. I'm so excited for my Little Buddy!

So what do me and Brynn do now that the big kids are in school? Well go shopping and take a lot of selfies!

After a few hours of running errands with me, Brynn is ready to play with Caden, and then a few hours after that they are both ready to play with Makayla.

Yea for back to school time!
