Giving Thanks, Finding Joy

It's Thanksgiving at the Evans house!! I am so grateful for these little turkeys.

We went to Bill and Bon's house for Thanksgiving snacks... I say snacks because apparently Karen doesn't like turkey, she only likes certain sides, and whatever Karen wants the rest of us have to eat for dinner, so ya. We had mashed potatoes, stuffing, green jello and rolls. Weird, right?
Regardless of the weird meal, we enjoyed spending some time with Bill and Bon.
Then we went over to Tammy and Bruce's house for a real Thanksgiving dinner. The Taylor's are so nice and invited my parents to come over for dinner. It was so generous because my parents would have sat home alone all day. I was so grateful for their thoughtfulness.

They had a yummy drink that Brynnli loved, so here she is double fisting it.

Caden looks like Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The cousins put on a little play for us. It was very entertaining.
The next morning Makayla and I ventured out Black Friday shopping. We stopped for breakfast... Honestly I think that is the only reason Makayla goes with me.
Brynnli joined us a little later for some more shopping.
Then we ended the weekend by seeing Zootopia 2 at the movie theater.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

What Do You Want to be When you Grow Up?

Caden had to job shadow someone for school and he decided he wanted to shadow Grandpa Craig who works at the Utah Women's basketball table. They got him a special badge to wear that allowed him to be on the floor. He got pizza with all the workers too, which might have been the highlight of the night. And the official asked Caden to check the game ball before the game started.

Caden said it was really fun to see how things worked behind the scenes. He liked when the officials did a game call challenge replay. He said the only hard part was that he couldn't cheer for the Utes because as a worker, they have to be neutral and can't show favoritism for one team. Overall it was fun event for him!
Go Utes!!

Sweater Weather

Welcome to November where basketball is in full swing at our house. Caden is playing with two teams: Bingham Bantam and Dream Team. Do you know what that means? Caden basically has practice 3 times a week and weekends are full of all day basketball. But you know what? We love it. We love cheering Caden as he plays.

Looks like Caden and Bella are really enjoying the game...Tyler not so much.

These two had practices that ended at roughly the same time, and somehow they convinced me to take them to dinner because they were STARVING and couldn't eat at home. They both wanted different restaurants, and lucky for them they were next door to each other, so I agreed.
Maybe Makayla should be a cake decorator when she grows up. She went to a birthday party where they got to decorate cakes.
Family Twister night. Looks like Tyler was the winner.
This is a bittersweet event... Brynnli's last primary program. I can't believe Brynnli will be moving into Young Women's next year. She did a great job on her part and we were all so proud of her. It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of the whole congregation and speak and sing... especially where our primary only has like 8 kids!
November nails. I loved these
Tyler was out of town and I didn't want to cook, so we all went to Chilis for dinner.
School pictures are back. Gosh we have good looking kids!

What? You don't do random stretches like this at random times of the day? Only Tyler?
Its that time of year again. Sick season. Brynnli was the first victim.
But luckily a few days later she felt good enough to go outside and play in the leaves.

My mom seems to be getting more and more tired on the days I take her. Sometimes we have to stop at the house so she can get a little nap.

4.0 club again for these two! I am so proud of how hard they both work.
This particular game with Dream Team made me so mad. Look how tall some of those kids are. There is no way that kid is 13. Caden played his heart out, but there's not much you can do when the other players are feet taller than you.

With Christmas coming up, Brynnli's room needed to be organized. See, Brynnli loves to collect things, and everything is so special to her, and she has a hard time throwing things away. Sometimes her room would just be too overwhelming for her, so one Sunday afternoon we literally went through her whole room, closet, drawers, and organized and threw away a lot of things. Doesn't her room look great now?

Cousin time is the best time.
Makayla has been really into watching Dancing with the Stars this season. Her favorite dancer is Robert Irwin. He made it into the finals and Makayla was on the edge of her seat hoping he would win the crystal ball.

Do you think he won?
The answer is yes, he did. Makayla was so happy.

DARE Graduation

Another bittersweet milestone for this family. Brynnli graduated from the DARE Program and pledged to be drug free.

I love the songs they sing at the program... "Check  your attitude at the door"

Brynnli got her certificate from the DARE officer

All of Brynnli's cute friends.
