April 2024

The first week of April started out so rough at the Evans Family. Brynnli woke up one night throwing up. It was honestly the roughest 24 hour flu I have ever seen. Brynnli was throwing up so hard and I felt so bad for her. Just look at this picture... don't you feel so bad for her?
24 hours later Brynnli was feeling much better. Good news, right? Well not for the rest of us. Makayla got sick next and 24 hours later Tyler was throwing up. We thought maybe Caden and I got away unscathed, but nope. I got sick right after Caden's birthday and Caden was throwing up just a few days later. It seemed like just as one of us was getting better, the next person was sick. This stupid 24 hour flu lasted almost a week and a half by the time all of us were finally better.

Take a look at my recently played list... looks like the kids have been playing music on my phone again... lucky me its all farts mix.
Teaching the kids some carpentry skills. Our basement is coming along... slowly.
Spoiled doggy

Bella really thinks she is part of the family and human. As we were playing a card game Bella sat right next to us so Tyler dealed her some cards too.
Brynn Bakin some Banana Bread. (Were you thinking to your self, "wow, great use of alliteration, there"? Ya, me too.)
Just two teenagers always on their phones (Bella is a teenager in dog years)

My favorite trees are blossoming!

We were on a family walk around the block when Brynnli suddenly had to rush home because her tooth was about to fall out.
Have you ever had a Colton? It's a sleeve of Oreos crushed up in milk. It's named after Colton who apparently has one of these every night. Coltons seem to be a regular treat around our house lately
Nail Day!
Caden has been practicing with Darius twice a week. He pretty much gets a private lesson. We really like Darius, but we will probably have to find a new team since it doesn't look like there will be a team this year.
My parents are definitely getting settled into their new house. Their couches arrived and they look so good in their living room.
Brynnli has been begging me for a few years now to get a real haircut. I have always cut her hair but decided she needed a professional to help. She got a few inches taken off and a few long layers added. She looks so cute!
I love watching Utah Gymnastics. The Utes have made it to the NCAA finals every year. This year was so much fun because Oklahoma was slated to win this year, but in the semifinal they choked and were knocked out. I was literally jumping up and down and cheering for Oklahoma to fall. The Utes made it to the finals and ended up taking 3rd place. Louisiana won the title this year. Here's to hoping we win it all next year.

I should give a little backstory to this photo. I have worked at Copper Hills in the attendance office for almost 4 years now, but everyday I work I check the postings to see if there are any openings at Bingham High School. See, all of my coworkers all have kids who go to Copper Hills and their kids come in to the office all the time to say hi to their moms. I keep thinking how much fun it would be if I worked at the same school as my kids so I check all the time. Well a few weeks ago I saw a posting for an open position at the Bingham Counseling center and I decided to apply. I was surprised when I didn't hear back for a few weeks, but then I got a call that the position for the counseling center was filled, but they had an opening in the attendance office... same hours and days that I work. I applied and they offered me the job!!! I'm a little nervous about switching because I love the people I work with and I know how everything works at my job, but I am so excited to work at Bingham next year. I took this picture right before I went in to interview.
We are putting these kids to work. The kids are going to be mowing and edging the lawn this summer.

And you have to know how hard it is for Tyler to pass along his favorite chore to the kids. Let's just hope the lawn survives.

Tyler and I went on a date night to our favorite Carvers. My steak was so yummy! We had the best conversation over dinner... this date night was so needed and so much fun.
Bella does not let Haylie and Henry hang out in our yard. She chases them away every time they even think about coming into her territory.
When Bella isn't looking we sneak bread crumbs to Haylie an Henry

Some kids in our family eat a normal breakfast of cereal...
Other kids eat chicken nuggets for breakfast.
Brynnli got to miss a day of school, and I got to miss a day of work for Brynn's dance competition, and it just happened to be my mom's birthday, so we took my mom and dad out to lunch. This was such a hard day because my mom had no idea it was her birthday. I am losing my mom one memory at a time.
See this handsome boy right here? Well he was asked to give a talk in Sacrament meeting and he did such an amazing job! Tyler and I helped him organize the talk, but Caden came up with the examples all by himself. He confidently walked up to the pulpit, spoke clearly and loudly, looked at the audience, cracked a few jokes, and bore a very heartfelt testimony. So many people told us it was one of the best youth talks they have ever heard.

He did such a good job that someone in our ward said they could see him as a future general authority

And now we refer to Caden as President Evans. :)

Hey remember how last year for my birthday I told Tyler that I wanted this egg swing, then remember how he gave me a coupon for a swing but never ordered the it? Then remember how the swing sold out and was no longer available? Then remember how it came back in stock and Tyler said he would order it, but he never did? So remember how I finally ordered my own birthday gift 9 months later? Ya, I remember that too. Good news is that my swing came and I love it. I can't wait to spend spring days basking in the sunlight with Bella by my side.

And from now on, I will order my own birthday gift! (Now before you get mad at me for this post, just know that I like to give Tyler a bad time about this because he feels so bad about it and I am selfishly enjoying giving him a hard time!)

Caden's Month Long Birthday

It's our favorite son's 12th birthday!!! We love Caden so much that we wanted to celebrate his birthday all month long. Well there's a story to his month long birthday celebration, but we'll get to that in a minute.
Caden woke up bright and early on his birthday. I was able to go into work late so that I could see him open one of his presents and make him his requested birthday breakfast before he went off to school.

Caden got the Collin Sexton jersey he wanted and was so excited to wear it to school.

Brynnli bought Caden a gift with her own money. She got him squirt guns so they could play together in the summer.
After school Caden wanted Chick-fil-a for dinner. They even gave him a free birthday brownie.
After waiting all day for everyone to get done with their after school activities it was finally time for Caden to open the rest of his presents. He got new basketball shoes, Stef Curry shoes to be exact, games, and an Xbox game pass from Mom and Dad.

Remember that nasty 24 hour flu that was making it's way around our family? Guess who's turn it was to get it? Me. I was so sad because that meant I would have to miss Caden's friend party. Luckily Tyler was feeling much better and Grandma and Grandpa came to help at the party. I was so grateful Caden chose a few weeks prior for his party to be at the bowling alley so we didn't have to host the party at our flu infested home.

Caden invited Tanner, Logan, Jaron, Camden, Callen, and Seth to his party (and his sisters, of course). They played two rounds of bowling and then got to play a round of laser tag.

Then they had pizza and donuts and opened presents

By Saturday I was feeling much better. We continued Caden's celebration at his favorite restaurant Texas Roadhouse.
We have finally reached a milestone I have been waiting for for over 12 years now... all of our kids can cut up their own meat!! Do you know what this means? Tyler and I can finally have our meal hot since we don't have to spend forever cutting up our kids' steak.

And no birthday at Texas Roadhouse is complete without sitting on the saddle for a Texas sized yea haw!
Sunday was supposed to be Caden's family party, but since our family had just gotten over the flu, we didn't want to host and risk the whole family getting sick, so we rescheduled for the end of the month because Tyler was heading out of town for two weeks. To make up for the delayed party, we let Caden choose dinner. He picked chicken wings, artichokes, baked potatoes, rolls, and shrimp.
We were kind of kicking ourselves because we all seemed to be feeling better and the weather that weekend was absolutely perfect, we wondered if we should have kept the party on that day. However the flu bug stuck the last and final victim... Poor Caden was throwing up his chicken wing dinner all night long and we were happy we didn't have everyone over.

Luckily two weeks passed quickly and it was finally time for Caden's family party. We had everyone over for pizza dinner, then played the basketball game.

Carson came in 1st place, and Tyler came in 2nd place.
Caden opened his presents from the family.
He got a new basketball bag, some basketball accessories, Percy Jackson books, Jazz clothes, and an x box gift card.

Caden wanted a cookie cake this year... it was so yummy!

But it made everyone's teeth tongue turn blue!!

Happy birthday Buddy! I can't believe you are 12 years old. You are such a bright spot in our lives and family. You are so responsible at home and at school and are always making us laugh with your sarcastic sense of humor. I love that you are the first one to hop in your bed so that you can earn the title of "favorite kid at bedtime". We are so proud of how much you have improved at basketball and how much you love the game. You love watching the Jazz and cheering them on... even when they lose (which they seem to be doing a lot lately!) I am so sad this is your last year in elementary school, but so proud of you for doing so well in school, making good friends, and being a strong leader in the school on student council. You are so competitive even when you play bored games, or basketball with friends and cousins. You are such a good brother and support your sisters at their all day dance competitions and I know they appreciate your support. We are so lucky to have you in our family and love you so much Buddy!! Happy Birthday Caden!!
