Half Way Through this Weird Year

Well, summer is finally here. The kids have been out of school now for a little over three months. Our schedule looks a little different  now. The kids don't have online school work, so they spend more of their time sleeping in, playing with friends, and definitely watching more t.v. In some ways I like that we don't have to worry about school work, but in some ways it was good because it gave the kids some thing to do for a few hours a day. We are having a great summer so far. Here's some of the fun things we have been up to:

Brynnli loves her watermelon swimsuit she got a few months ago and now that it is nice weather she likes to wear it all the time. Tyler sent me this picture of her while he was working. She loves to hang out outside his window.
One of our greatest accomplishments to date is that we finally have our kids willingly helping after dinner. I used to get so frustrated when after dinner everyone left to go do their own thing and either Tyler or I had to clean up the entire kitchen. We decided to implement a rotating schedule and for some reason this one has just stuck. One kid loads the dishwasher, one kid vacuums, and the other kid clears the table and puts away all the random stuff in our kitchen. When they are done, either Tyler or I will do the hand wash dishes and finish up. But I can't even tell you how proud I am of our kids. Right after dinner they don't complain and just get working.

We love the splash pad and spend lots of time here.

Ahhh, check out that rainbow!
So quarantine has made me more adventurous to try new things. I saw that Disney released their recipe for beignets, so I tried my hand at them. The first recipe did not turn out, but I figured out my mistake and the second batch was pretty good! It almost made me feel like I was back in Disneyland... I wish!!

Daddy got to help coach Caden's baseball team. This particular game was an awkward one because the other team's coach kept getting mad at our team for stealing bases and making comments to Tyler about how he needed to not let the kids do it. The other coach was a real jerk. I can see why some parents get mad at Little League teams, because the momma bear in me was ready to unleash!
After that game we headed to Carson's game. I think this picture is so cute of Caden cheering on Carson.
Treats after the game are a must in our house.
We went for a bike ride along the Draper trail. Brynn and I only made it part of the way because her tire kept going flat. We made it back and she got to spend some time playing at the park while Tyler and the other two finished the bike ride.
Cute nails.
I took the kids to the West Jordan park on day and they had an absolute blast. We were there for hours. All three of them fit on this giant swing and I had one of those moments where I realized they won't be this little and all want to play on the same swing for long. This is one of those moments I always want to remember.

They had this other fun swing where I would push the kids to get them going really fast and then they would just spin in circles. They had a blast; I was ready to throw up.

But I got some pictures of Brynnli on it and the more I zoomed in on her face the funnier it got.

Hey, remember me? I'm the one who writes the blog.
Clearly the kids don't appreciate selfies like I do.

Neither does Tyler.

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy around. We love Tyler so much! He is such a hard worker, he's so funny, he's a logical thinker, and he's all of our best friend. We love you!

We went to Craig and Terry's house for dinner. Brynnli was so proud of the headband she made all by herself.

Check out this handsome dream boat!
My little poser.
Craig and Terry always get the kids matching shirts for 4th of July. It look a lot of work to get everyone to smile. What you see...
The paparazzi and the magic behind the smiles. But you do have to chuckle at all the moms taking pictures of the kids and all the dad's hanging out.
Hey, Tracy!

Ahhh, I would die to have her hair! Makayla seriously has the most gorgeous hair. She rarely lets me curl it, so on the occasion she does, I have to take a picture.
This was taken Father's day night. Do you know how I know I picked a good one? All Tyler wanted to do for Father's day was to have a camp out in a tent with the kids. He is such a good sport and the kids had a blast once they finally settled down and went to sleep. Bonus for me, I had the king size bed all to myself that night!

Doens't Tyler look just like Brynnli's baby doll?
Just my two dance girls cheering on our little buddy at his game. Things are finally starting to get a little more back to normal. The girls both had dance camp this particular week and I spent my night being the taxi that ran the kids back and forth to activities.
The sunset was AMAZING!

I am so stinkin proud of this girl. At the beginning of quarantine she started reading Harry Potter and she was hooked. She was reading the books so fast that we finally had to put a time limit on her reading. Makayla would finish a book and beg me for the next one. Well, three months into quarantine Makayla has finished all 7 Harry Potter books. That's 3,407 pages she read in that short amount of time. She. is. amazing!
More bike rides! This time through Daybreak lake.

We tried to rearrange our furniture and brought our furniture from upstairs and our bedroom into the family room. We're trying to experiment with things as we get ready to remodel our house in the next couple of years. I really liked this look, but it wasn't very functional for a family room.

Eating cookies at night. Man, our kids are cute and silly!

Do you want to know why Caden is so unhappy in this picture? Well, the last weekend of June he kept telling me he didn't feel good. He had a slight fever, but never over 100 and he complained that his throat hurt. Well we were supposed to go to Hanna Land that weekend, but we didn't want to go if by chance he had corona virus. So we decided to have him tested. We had to wait in line in our car for like an hour, then they stuck this huge stick up his nose. The poor kids was crying so hard because it hurt so bad. We got the test results back the next day and he was negative! YAY!
We were able to head up to Hanna Land for the 4th of July and we were all so excited. Here's to hoping no one else has to have a corona test because Caden said it was the worst thing that has ever happened to him. Coming from an 8 year old, that's pretty true.

At the end of June there were 22,217 total cases of Corona since March and 172 people in Utah have died from the virus.

In the United States there were over 2.5 million cases of Corona and 119,761 deaths. There has been an uptick of cases, so not masks are required when going out in public. More stores are starting to open, but a lot of people are still hesitant to to go out. We are ok going to restaurants and stores, but some of our family has not been inside a restaurant since March. There's only a few more months until schools are back in session, and I am just hoping so badly that the kids can go back to school. They need the stability that the school routine brings and they need the social interaction. Crossing my fingers!
