Everything is Awesome

Caden is obsessed with Legos... Surprise, right? He loves to build things and he is so creative. We knew a Lego themed 7th birthday was the best idea for our Buddy this year.

We decorated the door to look like Lego bricks. This was probably the easiest decoration I have ever done and Caden said he loved it.

Caden invited some friends from school and the neighborhood to his party. Jordan, Easton, Kaysen, Johnny, Jay, Nate, and Camden all came. We had a contest to see who could build the coolest creation out of Legos.

Then we had pizza for lunch.
Then Caden got to open presents. He got lots of Legos, but his favorite gift might have been a bae blade from Easton. I guess Bae Blades are all the rage in 1st grade and Caden watches his friends play it, so his friend got Caden one so he can play with them at school.

After presents we played Bingo and then let the kids play outside. It was a great friend party for Caden!

Then we got ready for Caden's family party. How cute is this cake that looks like a Lego brick?
We decorated the wall downstairs just like the door.
And of course balloons and the Happy Birthday sign.
 I think he approved.

Once all the family arrived we had dinner then Caden got to open his presents. He got a lot of cute clothes, a pogo stick, and more Legos. He sure is spoiled and loved by everyone in the family.

Then we had a Lego building contest with all the cousins. They all made very creative things.

Jeremy was inspired by President Trump's latest attempt at building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, so he built his own version of the wall.

Then Caden got to blow out the candle on his cake while we sang Happy Birthday

It was an awesome party for our awesome birthday boy! All this fun, and we weren't even to his actual birthday yet. Stay tuned for that post!

March Forth

Spring is so close I can feel it! This winter has been one for the books. We have had so many snow storms and so much snow. I've always heard people talk about Seasonal Affective Disorder and thought it was a made up thing, but I totally get it this winter. I feel like we have been cooped up in our house all winter and all of us are itching for those long, hot summer nights.

Thanks to this rough winter, we've explored lots of new indoor play places for the kids this year.  The kids' favorite might be Ninja Warrior Kids where they get to go through really hard obstacle courses. I'm so impressed with how strong our kids are.

Apparently National Oreo Day is a thing... any excuse to eat Oreos for this family.

I told Brynnli to look at me and smile and she responded with, "I can't right now... I'm in a very serious game here."

Good reports at Parent Teacher Conference means Menchies Ice Cream after! Our kids are doing so well in school and we are so proud of them!
 She takes beauty sleep seriously...
It was National School Breakfast Day (Seriously, some of these celebrated "days" crack me up) so the kids got to go to the school early and have breakfast. They thought it was pretty cool.
Thilly Thursday for Brynnie! She wore two different shoes, backward clothes, and her hair in lots of pony tails.

I think electronics are taking over our lives, but I ignore it when Brynnli's feet are like that.
We went to the Utah Men's Basketball game and all the kids got to go on the court and high five the players as they came out to warm up.

I think we are doing a great job raising the next generation of Utes fans.

Ewww... sometimes I wonder where this child came from.
Tammy got the whole family tickets to Disney on Ice in the Coke Suite! It was so much fun! They had desserts, pizza, popcorn, and drinks.

And the show was adorable. I love Disney on Ice!

Brynnli chose to eat cucumbers instead of her Crumbl cookie... Definitely not Tyler's child.
Looks like Brynn figured out how to take selfies on my phone.
This particular day she informed me she was "getting married" and this was her wedding dress. I love her imagination.

Brynnli dressed herself this particular morning.
Creepy Clown Alert! Oh wait, that's Creepy Tyler.

St. Patrick's Day was a hit! The kids tired to set a trap, but the Leprechaun got away again this year. He left the kids some green surprises and a note.

All of my cousins met out at my Grandma's house because my mom, aunt Joann and uncle Dennis are trying to clean it out before they sell my grandma's house. We all got to go out and see if there was anything of my Grandma's we wanted. You know that weird, creepy decoration at your grandparents house that you don't quite understand what it is, but it just reminds you of them? Well that's the decoration I got: The old couple
Weird, huh? My cousin Stevie cracked us up with his very first pick: My Grandma's Cross necklace. It's the most random necklace for my grandma to have, considering she was a devout Mormon, but even more random for Stevie to want it.

The item that I treasure the most is this picture of my Grandma and Grandpa taken at least 30 years ago and has been on my Grandma's fridge the whole time.  I think this was taken on a family camping trip and they were on a walk holding hands. This picture is just what I want to remember about my Grandma and Grandpa and represents everything I want my relationship with Tyler to be in the future.
The hummingbird magnet reminds me of my grandma because she loved hummingbirds. I'm sitting here crying as I type this; I didn't realize how much I miss my Grandma and Grandpa.

Queen Elsa trying to work her magic on Tyler's hair. I don't think there's any kind of magic that can make his hair come back.
Yep, more selfies of Brynn.

And her shoes...
We went to Ikea for some furniture and Makayla was embracing her Swedish heritage by drinking Lingon Berry juice.

Yep, still loving our new SUV Buick.
We had to stop at Sheels one day and all of us got to ride the Ferris Wheel. The kids loved it... Tyler and I, not so much.

Cute Grandma Bonnie. This is random, but do you know what I like most about Tyler's grandma? She always says the nicest things to me, and you can always tell there is true sincerity to her comments. One time she told me I was a really good mom, and it really meant a lot to me.

I got to go see Makayla sing in her 2nd grade play about the 7 habits. She did a great job!

Looks like our neighborhood ducks are back! The kids had to run out to feed them.
What's that hiding in Tyler's shirt? Brynn.
The trap shoot means that Spring is almost officially here. The kids love going to the trap shoot and playing with their cousins. Looks like everyone found the donuts too.
This was Carson's first year shooting. He did really well for his first time.
Oh, I just love this girl so much... and I think she loves Coke just as much.

Tyler's team is really good this year!

You know those craft projects the kids get that are supposed to be for the kids to do, but the parents usually have to do them because it's too hard for the kids... well this particular craft project Makayla got for her birthday was extra hard. I gave up on it after a while and was about ready to throw it in the garbage when Tyler stepped up to the plate to make it for her. It took at least 3 hours to make a pom-pom puppy.
The things we do for our kids.
