Put a Spring in Your Step

Spring is in full swing and we are here for it! Here's some of the fun things we have been up to this month:

I had to work on May 4th, aka, Star Wars Day ("May the force"... get it?). I thought this comic was applicable because I work in the attendance office. The mom says, "I'm calling to excuse Jimmy from school today. He's participating in an extracurricular marathon."
I don't get the whole Star Wars craze, but some people get really into it.

Caden's team is doing great. They have only won one game, but they have been working so hard and you can see them running plays and really starting to work well together.

Kenzee was in a play, so we got to see it. She played the younger Anna from Frozen and she did great! The play was really the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Look at my cute summery nails!
The girls had their last dance competition for the season. Makayla and Hanna did their duet one last time and it was by far the best they have ever done. They were so in sync and Makayla did so many great facials and big movements. I was seriously so proud of her! It takes a lot of courage to go up on stage and dance with just two people while 4 judges are staring at you and giving suggestions, but they went up there every time and rocked it!

Their dance got 2nd place in their division.

After her duet we went to breakfast at Kneaders. Their French toast is so yummy!
It was kind of sad to know this was the last time they would perform their dances on stage. I seriously loved Brynnli's jazz routine and Makayla's lyrical routine this year.

You would have not even known that Makayla didn't feel well the whole day of her last competition. The poor thing had some yucky bug that wiped her out. She fell asleep early that night. Makayla is seriously such a trooper.
In other news we went to Lagoon... again.

This was our first time on Rattle Snake Rapids and it might be our new favorite. The kids went together and got soaked and the adults went together and Tracy and Jeremy got soaked, while Tyler and I only got a little bit wet. We were laughing so hard the entire ride.

Yep, Bella is all snuggled up in our bed. Like I said before, I really don't understand the person I've become.
Makayla graduated DARE!! It's hard to see her, but she is a few rows back and is trying to ignore the fact that her mom is trying to take her picture.
That's officer Peterson, their DARE officer. He was great with the kids and they really learned a lot about how to stay drug free, avoid peer pressure, and what to do if they are ever in an uncomfortable situation.

Caden played his last game for this season. It was a hard season and they only won 2 games the whole time, but they have really improved a lot.
One of the moms on team took the kids' pictures and made trading cards for the kids. I don't think I have ever seen a more handsome picture of my Buddy! And you better believe that this original, first edition trading card is going to be worth millions someday!

Jo's team made it to regionals and Jo got her 1,300 career win! That is seriously such an amazing accomplishment!

Unfortunately, they lost the next game and were out of the playoffs. This also marked the end of an era, because Texas A & M decided not to renew Jo's contract. She was the head coach at Texas A & M for 26 years. She is a great coach and we can't wait to see what her next adventure will be. We're hoping she will move back to Utah.

I live for nights like this sitting around the fire and talking. I hope we spend lots of summer nights out here.

You know how the end of the year is full of lots of fun theme days? Well Brynnli got to dress up a few times during the last 2 weeks of school. First was pirate day...

Then Disney Day. Brynnli wanted to dress up as Mirabel from Encanto, but we didn't have that costume, so we did our best with what we have. Pretty good if you ask me.

But the best had to be this day. The paper that Mrs. Fasselin sent home said it was "Animal Day" Brynnli told me she wanted to dress up as a cat. I didn't think much of it and I was working that day, so I figured Tyler had it all figured out. Brynnli found the cat ears, tail, and bow in our Halloween box and Tyler drew whiskers and a nose on her face, and off she went to school. When Tyler sent me this picture of her I started to wonder if that was what they were supposed to do for animal day, but brushed it off.

Well  apparently they weren't supposed to dress up as an animal, they could bring a stuffed animal or wear an animal shirt. Brynnli came to school in full costume. We were laughing so hard. Brynnli said she was the only kid who dressed up that day. Brynnli came home at first upset, but she later admitted to us that she really enjoyed the attention. Much to my relief, when Mrs. Fasselin asked Brynnli who did her makeup, she proudly said her dad did it. It makes it better if Dad misread the paper, not mom... right?

Caden got to go on a field trip. I couldn't go with him, but I was so happy his group mom sent this picture to me. They had a lot of fun exploring the Planetarium.
The kids are all done with their after school activities and we don't have to rush home to get them ready, so the kids get to ride bikes to school for the last two weeks. They have fun riding with Josaphine Moffat who lives just a few houses down from us.
We headed up to The Land for Memorial Day. It was so cute because Mason kept coming up to Tyler and putting his cute little hands on Tyler's knee and asking him to play all sorts of songs on the accordion. He would start out each request with, "Tyler, can you play..."

This might be the best story of all this trip. Caden and I left for a few hours on Saturday because Caden had a birthday party for one of his teammates that he didn't want to miss, so we drove back home. I told everyone before we left that if they needed me to stop and get anything they forgot to let me know. Well I got a call from Karly and she sounded hesitant. She said she forgot to pack something very important and asked if I could go to the store for her. Turns out Karly forgot to pack underwear!!! She was so embarrassed, but so desperate. I was laughing so hard that I completely forgot to exit the freeway and had to take a detour. Well I dropped Caden off at his party then went to the store. I face timed Karly to make sure that I got the ones she wanted. Then I decided to get her an extra pair just in case.. I bright green thong! She proudly showed it to everyone and gave us all a good laugh. I think we can guarantee two things... Karly will never live this down and she will never forget her underwear again.

The weather was pretty wet and soggy the whole trip. We decided to take a 4 weeler ride up the mountain but didn't get very far because the road was too muddy. We found Tyler's carving in the tree from when he graduated high school.
On our way back we saw this red truck that was stuck and couldn't turn around because the road was too narrow and muddy, so Tyler and Craig luckily to tow him back down the mountain. It was kind of scary, but they were able to get him back to a spot where he could turn around.
It was so muddy! My shoes were covered in mud.
Bella came up to the Land with us. She does not like the cold, so she spent most of the time wrapped up in this old blankie.
We had a great time at The Land laughing with family, playing games, and eating lots of goodies. After a week of fun, we were all tired out!
