We have had so much snow this month I almost feel like it's Christmas. But before we get to that, let's start out February's blog post by calling this the many looks of Makayla. This is what you get when Makayla gets a hold of my phone.
Tyler had to go out of town again and went to dinner with his coworkers. They went to a South African restaurant and he sent me this picture of his meal. He said it was good, but all I could think was... gross!!
Brynnli got to perform her Jazz routine at the Copper Hills drill team showcase. This was my first time seeing their dance and it was so cute! The dance is color themed: Black, White, Gold, Silver. I am so excited to see the rest of their dances. The Utah Utes have been so much fun to watch this season. They are doing so well and have won almost all of their games. We went to one of their games and Caden made it on the flex cam. Check out those muscles.
We celebrated Tyler's 40th birthday. Can you believe he is 40? We are getting so old!!
We love Tyler so much and are so grateful for all that he does for us. Happy Birthday!!
I only make cookies for special reasons and Valentine's day is one of those days.
Our Valentine's day was pretty low key this year because the girls were at dance all night, so we had a quick celebration. The kids got some gift cards and toys and Bella got her favorite treats. We celebrated our love for each other with panookies in our mini pans that we got for Christmas.
Caden graduated from D.A.R.E. and we got to go to his program. They sang a few songs
And then he got to walk across the stage to get his graduation certificate from Officer Peterson.
We are so proud of Caden and know he will always make good choices throughout his life.
Dance showcase time! I love this time of year because we finally get to see all of the girls' dances and that means competitions are just around the corner. Brynnli and Makayla are in 3 dances each: jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. They all did so great
It's that time of year again where our kids seem to pick up every sickness. This one was rough and really knocked Brynnli out.
I love Sundays... do you know why? We usually make a nicer meal and the kids love to help us prepare it.
Check out this teenager taking mirror selfies.
And check out this handsome dude. Caden is trying to gain some muscle so he can play more defensively in basketball.
Remember how the new year started out with a huge storm? Well check out this snow we woke up to in February... almost 17 inches! Not only was this a huge storm, the kids ended up getting, not just one, but two "virtual learning days" (Basically a snow day, but if they call it a virtual learning day and have the kids do some reading at home they don't have to make up the day. It's stupid and makes me mad, but that's a rant for another day.)
And if this doesn't sum up our weather lately...
I thought I would be all helpful to Tyler by helping him shovel the driveway and make a path for Bella. Well my good deed didn't turn out so well because I ended up losing my cell phone somewhere in the snow. I looked and looked for hours, but it was like literally trying to find a needle in a haystack (or in my case a phone in a snow pile). My battery was dead and I wasn't sharing my location with Tyler, so there was no finding my phone until the snow melted. I ended up having to go get a new phone. I was planning on getting a new phone soon, but I didn't want to do it so soon. Oh well. And guess what we found a few days later when the snow started to melt? My phone. It had fallen out of my pocket right by the back door leading into the garage. It still seems to work, but I bet the battery is probably ruined.
Bella does not enjoy the snow. She is always cold, so we wrapped her up in a hat.
This poor girl seems to get the weirdest things. Brynnli had a cold sore that traveled up to her nose.Red Rock Gymnastics is finally here. We love watching the Utes. They are so good this year and I really think they have a great chance of going all the way to the NCAA championship.
Makayla got to compete in her first solo. I love her dance. She is doing a lyrical dance to "Salvation" and the choreography is beautiful.
I am so proud of her because she was pretty nervous for this first competition. As we were driving to the competition she started to tell me that her stomach hurt. We got to the parking lot and I looked over at her as she ran over to the sidewalk and started throwing up. I asked her if she was ok and she said, "yep" and we walked into the venue like nothing happened. Makayla went onstage and did such a great job. She was competing against 3 other girls and totally rocked it.
First place, high gold for our amazing girl!! I can't wait to see her compete this solo again. Caden is playing basketball for Mayhem. He likes his new team and they are really improving. We love watching his games.
Just playing a little Family Pie Face. This game is so scary when it's your turn, but so funny when it's not your turn. Even Bella participated in the fun.
Tyler has been out of town quite a bit this month, but he ran into his uncle Roger at a convention. Did you know that Roger is a mining engineer too and the reason why Tyler decided to pursue the degree in college?
It's been a wild February, but so much fun.
