Strengthen The Pack

For fall break this year we decided to head to California and try something different than Disneyland. We heard a bunch of people say how much fun Great Wolf Lodge is, so we decided to try it along with Knotts Berry Farm. It was a long drive there, but our kids are pros at driving to California now. We play games and each kid has their device to watch movies and listen to music.

Great news... Makayla only threw up twice on our trip there. Poor girl still gets so car sick.

We drove to Victorville, California and stayed the night there. The kids wasted no time jumping on the beds.

After breakfast and a short 2 hour drive, we made it to Anaheim to the Great Wolf Lodge. This was the cutest hotel with a huge water park in it. The theme of the lodge is "Strengthen the pack" and I thought this was so fitting for our family. We make it a priority to love and support each other and have fun along the way. This week together was the perfect way to strengthen our family.

And how cute are our wolf ears?
We spent our first day at the water park. They had so many fun water slides that we could all go on together. Our favorite was the tornado that was so scary. The kids loved wolf tail that went straight down, but I was too scared to try that one. I loved that there were so many slides that we could all go on together. When we weren't going on slides, the kids loved to play in the huge wave pool.

Our room was so cute. It was big enough for all of us to sleep. There was a cute wolf den with bunk beds, mom and dad's bed, and a pull out sofa bed.

At night we got to go to a dance party with our favorite lead dancer, Eli. The kids learned lots of new dances and moves.
Some of us had more fun than others... I'll let you guess who from these pictures.

The next day we went to Knotts Berry Farm. We came here for just one day when the kids were younger, and we had so much fun, so we wanted to take them back. This time was so much fun because all of our kids could ride the big kid rides, so we were able to stay together the whole time. Knotts Berry Farm has so many fun big roller coaster type rides that the kids all love. Our favorite rides were Ghost Rider (the fastest wooden roller coaster you will ever ride... it seriously goes so far around the park),  Hang time where you go straight up and think you are going to fall out of the seat, then hang at the top for what seems like forever before going so fast and upside down at least 6 times, Silver Bullet where you are going so fast you can feel the blood rush to your legs, and Pony Express where you sit on a horse, but its a roller coaster.

We also met some of the characters from Charlie Brown

The weather was literally perfect.. sunny and 75.
We loved riding the Calico Train ride.

And the Rapids ride... although I did not love getting wet.

We ate the yummiest treats.

Caden and Brynnli had a good talk with the locals.

What we found worked the best is going to Knotts Berry Farm during the day until about 5 or 6:00, then heading back to the Great Wolf Lodge for swimming until it closed.

Knotts Berry Farm started out as a restaurant and later they added attractions and it grew from there. We decided to have lunch at the restaurant that started it all. It was so, so yummy!! The fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and Chicken pot pie were all amazing. And the chicken noodle soup was the best I have ever had!

These three are the best, even when they pretend to be annoyed at us.

Do you know why I am the best mom? Because I ride all the scary rides with the kids that Tyler refuses to do... the supreme scream was really scary and I will not be doing that again.
The wind blew Makayla's hair into the most perfect ring.

After 4 fun fill days at Knotts Berry Farm, and 4 exhausting nights swimming at the Great Wolf Lodge, the kids picked out their stuffed animal souvenirs before we made our long drive to Las Vegas for the night. The kids got to swim in a pool one last time before we headed back to cold Utah and Makayla got her Starbucks drink that she wanted the whole time we were on vacation.

We did have two crappy things happen to us on our trip that should be documented. The second day we were at Knotts Berry farm we took our stroller and back pack that had snacks, water bottles, and things to the park. We parked the stroller by a ride and then went to have our fun. When we came back from lunch, the girls put something into the bag, so I know the stroller was there after lunch. We rode rides for a few more hours and then went to grab our stroller to leave. Well it wasn't there. We thought maybe security moved it because it had been there too long, but when we went to talk to them they said they don't move strollers, and it was most likely stolen. We couldn't believe someone would just steal a stroller. We didn't have anything valuable in the bag and I was honestly going to donate the stroller to the DI once we got home, but it was still the fact that someone took something that wasn't theirs that made us secretly hope they choked on our sour gummy worms (I think the kids were the most upset about losing their gummy worms.)

Then the next day we left the park to go to Chick-fil-a for lunch. We were in the restaurant for about 45 min and when we came out Tyler goes, "are you kidding me?" I couldn't figure out what he was talking about until he pointed out the front of our car. Someone had stolen the Buick emblem off the front of our car... like why would someone do that? We were so annoyed with it and our kids just couldn't understand why someone would steal from us. California has really gone down hill in the last few years. They don't prosecute thefts over $3,000, so why wouldn't people steal if there is no consequence? Even when I went to Target to get more tums and ibuprofen (because ours was in the bag that was stolen), all of the medicine was locked up and an employee had to come open up the locked case because so many things get stolen. What is wrong with people today?

Despite those two things happening on our trip, we really did have the best time on our vacation. We definitely strengthened the pack and created memories that will last forever.  Let's do another trip soon, ok?
