Summer is flying by, but we will hang on to every last summer night that we can. Karen was inducted into the Utah Softball Hall of Fame and we went to a banquet for her at the ball field. The sunset was extra amazing.
Makayla is so great because she loves to cook. She made protein balls and I think I ate more of them than she did.
Makayla spent a week at Oakcrest girls camp. I remember going to Oakcrest when I was her age and having so much fun. It was a life changing week where I really learned a lot about myself and gained my own testimony. I was excited for Makayla to go, but knew she was nervous. They can't have cell phones so there was no way of knowing if she was ok or not.
Makayla roomed with her friend Layla from school.
When I was dropping the girls off, I ran into my cousin Dayna who volunteers at Oakcrest. Dayna said she would find Makayla and let me know how she was doing. I was so happy when I got this picture and text from Dayna. Makayla looked sunburned, but happy. And I'll take the thumbs up as a good sign.
Needless to say we were all so happy when Makayla came home, although we don't know what happened to her hair. Just kidding. Makayla said she was home sick on the first night, but things got better. She really liked her counselor, had fun on all the activities, and shared her testimony for the first time, but she said the food was disgusting.
While Makayla was gone my parents took Caden and Brynnli to the Bees game. Things were going great until a fly ball came right for their section and hit my mom right in the arm. They were all concerned and had her checked out by the medical staff. My mom was trying not to cry but it hurt her pretty bad. Good news, her arm was not broken, just badly bruised. This was taken right before the incident. This picture makes me so sad because she just looks so lost.
The Olympics are in full swing. This year they are in Paris. Simone Biles is competing in gymnastics and is dominating everything.
Brynn had dance intensives and the gang is all back together again. Brynn's team is the same this year as last year, minus one girl who moved. They are going to kill it this year.
Caden, Tyler, and the young men went on a hike in preparation for their upcoming overnight hiking trip to the Granddaddy's. While Makayla was at camp, these two had so much fun together. I took them to Classic one afternoon and they had so much fun together.
You know you have done something right when your kids ask you to take them to the library on a Saturday and leave with a stack of books. My little English teacher heart was bursting.
Lagoon with Daddy. Brynn can still ride most of the little kid rides.
And only Daddy can make Makayla hold hands and skip through the park. Now there may have been a bribe involved in this, but nonetheless, the picture is proof.
Caden and Brynnli spent hours putting together a circus play that was so cute. I love that these two have so much fun together and are so creative. Caden is hands down the best big brother around.
I never want to forget this picture. When I take my mom during the week, she gets pretty anxious when we are at my house and is constantly asking to go home, or asking if she can call her mom to come pick her up. It takes a group effort to keep her calm, and Brynnli is the best. Brynn will take Grandma by the hand and take her to play to try to distract her. This day they went outside and Brynn got Grandma to swing with her.
Look at this shaggy group of kids and pets. Ironically they were all scheduled for hair cuts the same week.
Enjoy the after pictures of our cuties!
Makayla cut quite a bit of hair off... look at that pile!
Back to School night already? Seems like we were just out for the summer. Caden is going into middle school this year and gets a locker. He was all nervous thinking he wouldn't know how to open his locker, but he got it on the first try.
Makayla found her name on the 4.0 roll. That's right, she got a 4.0 all last year. Smart girl!!
One last day at the pool before summer comes to a close. How lucky am I that I get to spend my days with these amazing kids. They are so much fun to be around.
Game night!!
Makayla might have a 4.0 in school, but sometimes her blonde hair moments make us wonder. We were playing games and the kids picked a treat from the bucket while we were playing. Makayla said to us, "do you think a Satisfies candy bar tastes like a Snickers bar?" We were all laughing so hard because she literally thought that was the name of the candy, and didn't know "satisfies" is just Snickers slogan.
Running through the sprinklers is a must.
And lying in the sun is a must for Bella.
Remember the kids' play? Well Tyler worked with the kids to make another play. This one was called "The Squishmallows" Tyler, Caden, and Brynnli all used their sunggies to waddle out to the playroom and dance. It was hilarious.
Reading before bedtime. Must be doin something right.
I took the kids to breakfast one morning because we all love Kneaders French toast.
And yes, this is proof that Brynn can clean her room.
It may still be summer, but I was feeling the fall plaid nails this time.
One more Bees game with Grandma and Grandpa. This time I got to tag along. We had a great time!
Makayla is spending too much time with the Jones boys. She's starting to look like them.
Brynn is screaming Utah mom vibes here.
Well the summer nights are coming to a close around here. I love summer and hate to see it go. But we made some great memories this summer.
