Cruisin' Together Day 1 and 2

We woke up bright and early on Saturday to make our way to the ship. Our ship was called Grandeur of the Seas. I think it is the smallest of Royal Carribean's ships, but because it is a smaller ship, it is able to go into some of the smaller ports, so we knew we were going to have a great 7 days.

Tyler snuck this picture of the kids.
We found our room. We usually opt for the cheaper rooms because we figure we don't spend much time in the room. We had joining rooms, so the kids were in one and we were in the other.
Then we went up to the pool deck for the sail away party.
But first ice cream. This was one of the many trips Tyler and the kids made here.

And just like that we were off for 7 days of pure family fun.

Don't we look so excited? Because we were.

We explored the ship and did some of the game shows before heading to dinner. I think one of my favorite parts of our cruise was the dinners. We would have great family conversations, and try different foods. Then we would head to the show. The show on the first night was a comedian.

The next day was a full sailing day. I talked Makayla into trying a Zumba class with me with our cruise director Talita. It was a lot of fun and Makayla picked up on Zumba much faster than I did.
We loved not making our bed for a whole week and loved the towel animals.
We spent a lot of time by the pool. Caden was picked to play the scavenger hunt game.
Yep, more ice cream!!
This is kind of a funny story. Makayla wanted to try the hair class because we thought they would teach us how to different hair styles for our face shape. So we went to the class but there were only 6 people total in the class. It was so awkward. I tried to convince Makayla to leave, but she didn't want to be rude, so we stayed. The girl that was teaching the class was so awkward and didn't really teach us anything. She kept asking questions that no one would answer, and I was trying so hard not to laugh. The class was about thinning hair, which neither Makayla or I have. The lady kept handing around product for us to try but Makayla didn't want to put it on her hair because she was having a good hair day, so every time the lady wasn't looking, she would wipe the product on her leg or on the chair. I was trying not to laugh. At one point the lady is like, "See how this product is thick? I can swing this around and it doesn't come out because it's so thick" and right as she says that, the product goes plop on the floor. Makayla and I were trying so hard not to laugh. Then the funniest part was at the end we had to put our names in a lottery and one person was going to win a free haircut. As she was choosing the name I was thinking in my mind, "Please don't be me, please don't be me". Guess who's name was chosen? Mine!!! So the awkward lady comes up to me and is like, "ok, if you want your free hair cut I can do it right now." I was like, let me go talk to my husband and I'll get back to you. So I talk to Tyler and he was like, why not? It's a free haircut." I decided to do something so out of my comfort zone and decided I would get the free haircut. I figured if it was bad, I had an appointment with my regular hair lady when we got back. So we go back not even an hour later to schedule the appointment and the lady acts like she doesn't know who I am or what I was talking about. She finally "remembered" and scheduled my appointment for an hour later. So I finally go back and she washes my hair, which was fine. But then she asked how much I wanted cut off and I said maybe like an inch. I started to realize as she was cutting my hair she had no idea what she was doing. She literally cut maybe half the size of my pinkie fingernail size off my hair. Then she was like, do you want me to straighten it, and I was like, "Can you curl it". She acted annoyed and then literally pulled out a straightener to curl my hair. She had no idea how to curl my hair either, because she was pulling on my hair so hard I thought I was going to cry. I was trying not to laugh at the whole experience. By the time I got back to our room, my hair was flat. It was a funny experience, but one I would never do again. But while I was waiting for my haircut I got this amazing picture.
While I was getting my "haircut" the kids had fun with all the activities on the ship.

Then we got all dressed  up for formal night. The kids hate getting dressed up, but I love it and I love making us take pictures when we look all cute.

We made the kids try all the fancy foods like calamari and escargot. The kids were grossed out by it... wouldn't you be too?

After dinner we went to the "name that song" game show where Tyler and Makayla got picked to go onstage. Makayla made it a few rounds, but Tyler was the hit of the show and made it almost to the end. And we can't forget Tyler's rapping of Wannabe by the Spice Girls. I didn't know he had that talent!

Caden and Brynnli went to the midnight movie. Tyler had a hard time finding them and was starting to get nervous... until he found them getting dessert. One of their many desserts that day.
