Our New Home

We have lived in our new home for about 2 months now and this is the first I have had a chance to post some pictures of it. I was waiting until our shutters got installed, then I was waiting until I cleaned the house, then I was waiting for our little projects do get done. I eventually realized all three of those things were never going to happen at the same time, so I am blogging now. This post will probably be incredibly boring to most of you, but I don't blog for all of you (sorry to disappoint you) I blog so my family will remember the exciting and boring events of our lives.

We absolutely love our new house! And we love living in South Jordan. It is so close to everything we need and it is close to our families. Our new house has a very similar layout from our Richfield house, but with a few extras...

This is the front view
That cute little orange dot is our Little Missy... she somehow ended up in most of the pictures.
Tyler has been working so hard on the yard for the last few weekends. We think after the owners sold the house they let the yard go because it needed a lot of upkeep.

I LOVE our front door. It was one of the major selling points for me.
Right off the front door is our piano room.

Moving further in the house is our family room.

Our kitchen. I love the cabinets and granite counter tops.
This is our pantry. The first time I peeked in there I was shocked at how big it was. I never thought I would be able to fill it up, but it is getting pretty full already.
Off the kitchen is our half bath
And on the other side is our laundry room with our new front loading washer and dryer which I absolutely love. Laundry isn't such a big task anymore.
 Our garage
The hallway leading to the bedrooms
 Makayla's room...

Next to Makayla's room is future baby's room, but for now it is our "random furniture that wouldn't fit in the family room" and "Makayla's play room".
One of the things I love about our house is the extra tall walls and doors.
 Makayla's bathroom
 And our bedroom

Every girl loves her walk in closet. It still amazes me that Tyler has more clothes than I do, and that was after he gave a bunch of them away.
 Master bathroom

Like I mentioned before, this house is very similar to our old house, but this house has a finished basement.

 Our game/movie closet...
There are two bedrooms downstairs. We turned this room into our computer/ work out room.

 My "organizing closet"
Bedroom #2 is a guest bedroom. If you need a place to crash, come on over!

Downstairs bathroom... not too much here, but we'll eventually decorate it up.
The thing we loved about this house was the bonus room.
A view from the other side
This is the bonus room bathroom... 5 bathrooms in one house sounds great until you have to clean all of them.
This is the bonus room bedroom. Really not much to see here either.
I love this view from the top of our bonus room looking down to the piano room.
We were also drawn to this house because it had a finished back yard. It needs some work, but we have a lot of years to turn it into our dream backyard.

Whelp... that's the tour of our home... I hope you enjoyed it... Little Missy certainly likes our house. She was too involved in waving her arms around to look at me and smile for the picture. :)

Finally Feeling Settled

We've lived in our house for a little over a month now and we are finally feeling like we are settled. We're getting more projects done around the house and we're finally getting into a routine. I love it!!

Makayla is now 8 months old and it seems like every day she is changing. She crawls all over the house now and likes to explore. She loves to eat carpet... don't so much love that she does that. I have had to fish little carpet fibers out of her mouth on more than one occasion. And we are very excited to announce that Makayla is now sleeping through the night!!!

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but Tyler's new job is with DMC Mining services as one of their mining engineer consultants. I would try to explain what he does at his job, but honestly the stuff he tells me about is so complicated, that I don't really get it. Basically a mining company will call him when they need help with a project and he will quote it, design it, and see it through. He seems to be liking it, and I love that he only has a 20 minute commute to work instead of 45!

I am working part time (kinda... it's more like 3/4) at Oquirrh Hills Middle School in Riverton. This year I am teaching 8th and 9th grade English. I really like the school and I love not working full time. I like that I get up every morning to get ready, and I get out of the house, but I am still home enough to play with Makayla and not feel like I am letting someone else raise my kid.

I feel like I didn't take a lot of pictures this month, but here's a few highlights from September...

Makayla and Daddy playing the piano. This was the cutest thing. She would pound on the keys, and then turn to look at us for approval.

We have a lot of pictures of bath time this month. Makayla loves her bath!

The other thing this little girl can't live without is her blankie. It has to be one with satin edges. She loves to find the corner and suck on it like it's a binkie.

The other funny thing about Makayla is that she never cries when she wakes up from her nap. I usually have to keep checking on her to make sure she is still asleep. It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but we went to check on her after a nap one day and she was just sitting in her crib sucking on her blankie with her little foot sticking out of the crib.
Makayla also got to ride a horse the last time we went to The Land. I think she liked it!
