Dinosaur Land

Tyler and I wanted to take our kids on a little vacation this year over Fall break. We decided Dinosaur Land in Vernal, Utah would be a great choice this year because Makayla was learning about dinosaurs at school, and Caden really likes reading about dinosaurs. We decided to spend a few days at Hanna before and after.

Doesn't this picture just remind you of fall?

We got to Vernal, ate some lunch, and then headed to the Quarry.  I think the kids like the statues of dinosaurs better than they liked the bones.
We took a short bus ride up to the quarry.

The quarry was pretty cool. There are over 12,000 dinosaur bones in this one section of the mountain.

They even have a real dinosaur bone that you can touch.

Brynnli was obviously very interested in the quarry.

The kids got an activity book that helped them learn different things about dinosaurs. After it was completed they had to take the pledge and then they were issued their official Dinosaur Land Jr. Ranger badge. They thought it was pretty cool!
I love us. And I love that we get to explore new and different places together as a family.
After the Quarry, we took a drive to see the petroglyphs .

Then we headed back to town to visit the dinosaur museum.

I think the kids had the most fun here. They loved pretending to be scared of dinosaurs. Good thing they haven't seen any of the Jurassic World movies or else they would really been petrified.... hey, Jurassic Park could happen.

This picture might be my favorite of all.
The fall colors were absolutely gorgeous!
We drove around the Vernal Temple.
Back at our hotel we had pizza and then spent the rest of the night swimming in the pool. Then it was off to bed.

The next morning we drove back to Hanna. We had so much fun as a family doing what we love to do at what has become our second home. We danced to music, went on 4 wheeler rides, and went for a long "hike".

Daddy taught all the kids how to shoot a BB gun.

Okay, I just love everything about this picture. Caden found some sticks and made them into drums. He would play his "drums" while Tyler played the accordion. Just look at the way they are looking at each other!
 We painted a craft

Brynnli pretended to fish with her stick fishing pole.

And of course we couldn't leave without setting up Marshmallow and Chocolate as a surprise to Grandma and Grandpa.

Fall break was just what we needed this year. It was so much fun to spend time with our cute little family and go someplace new and different. I can't wait for our many more adventures!

Girls Day vs. Boys Day

I wanted to take Makayla to see Thriller for years and now that she's old enough we planned a girls day and had a blast.

Makayla sometimes bites her toe nails... gross, I know. I told her if she could not bite her toe nails for an entire month, I would take her to get a pedicure. Well, guess what? She did it, so off we went for pedis! I'm so lucky I get to have not one, but two daughters to do all sorts of girlie things with. I can't wait for Brynnli to join in our fun in a few years!

Makayla picked pink and purple... just her style!
Then we were off to Thriller with Terry, Tracy, Karly, and Tammy.

I don't think Makayla was too fond of the zombies that walk around before the show starts.

I didn't realize how "dark" and creepy the show was until Makayla was sitting next to me, but she said she had fun and knew it was just pretend.
While Makayla and I were at our girls day, Tyler and Caden (and Brynnli) had their own "boys plus Brynnli" day. They got to go miniature golfing, play at the arcade, and have their favorite dinner... pizza.
