August Highlights

Where did summer go? I swear it was just a few weeks ago I was posting about all the fun plans for our summer and now here we are, at the end of August.

August had some highs and lows for the Evans'. The low was that Kayla, Caden, and I were all sick. I had it the worst, Kayla had it bad enough that she just wasn't her normal, happy self, and it barely touched Caden. I'm just glad I'm the one who had it the worst. There is nothing worse that seeing your kids sick.

But August had a lot of highs too. Here's some of our highlights from August.

Makayla has turned into quite the little helper. She loves to help me make the bed, or clean the house, and she is really into immitating everything we do or say.

Makayla likes to help me vaccuum

and load the dishwasher
And climb in the sink while I'm trying to do dishes.
Speaking of climbing, this little monkey loves to climb on anything she can. She can now climb to all the counter tops and get down by herself.

Remember how Makayla likes to imitate everything we do? Here's her attempt at eyeliner.

Makayla loves her baby. Baby has to go everywhere with us now, even the store. Makayla likes to have baby do a lot of things that Caden does, like play in the swing, sit in the high chair, have a binkie, and get the diaper changed.
Four things that go together in Makayla's mind.. a binkie, a straw, a spoon, and a sippy cup.
A close up of Makayla's beautiful big eyes.
The walker has been a lot of fun and caused a lot of fights this month. Kayla doesn't understand why Caden gets "her" walker.
At least she's showing him how it works.
I should be happy that she is being a good big sister and pushing Caden around in the walker, except she rammed him right into the cabinets right after I took this picture.
And when Brother is napping, Kayla gets the walker all to herself.
Stinkies is growing right up! She insists on sitting at the table now to eat.

Oops... someone got caught sneeking into the pantry. Makayla loves to play in here... I still can't figure out why.
Some other things about Makayla at 18 months:

-My favorite new word of Makayla's is "sorry". I guess we must say it a lot. The other day when we were at the store she would say "sorry" to every person who we passed.
-Makayla watches me in the morning when I do my makeup. Sometimes I let her put a little of my face cream on herself so she feels like she is really doing what I'm doing. This led to her wanting to put lotion, sunscreen, and soap on herself too. Well the other day we were having Oreo cookies for dessert and she started putting the cream in the middle of the Oreo on her face! I guess in the mind of Makayla cream is cream!
-She is starting to put two words together like "where dad?"
-Makayla and Caden started day care at Brooke's again. It took Makayla a few days to feel comfortable and eat there, but now she likes it again.
-She loves to close all the doors in our house. She can't figure out how to open the doors, so sometimes she gets locked in a room or closet.

Caden: 4 Months
This stink bug is just growing up way too fast! Caden is learning how to push himself up. He can almost get into a crawling position, but he hasn't figured out how to roll yet.
He is very entertained by the kitty.

Caden still loves to snuggle. And we love it when he will snuggle with us. I love this picture of my boys!
Caden spends a lot of time in his seat and he likes to watch me as I get things done around the house or get ready in the morning.
This face cracks me up! Caden has some killer abs for a 4 month old. He can almost sit up when he's in his chair.

Caden is also getting really good at picking up his toys. He loves to put all his toys in his mouth
And of course, Caden loves hanging out with mom!

Some other things about Caden:
-He slobbers ALL THE TIME! I wonder if he might be teething? His clothes are usually soaked because he slobbers so much.
-Caden was doing pretty good at sleeping through the night, then I went back to work and he started waking up again to eat.  He is also getting better at not having to be in our arms when he sleeps.
-Caden is starting to laugh out loud and it is the cutest laugh ever!!
-I used to think he was a really hard baby because he cried a lot, but Caden has really calmed down. He only cries if he is hungry, tired, or if Kayla poked him in eye. Even Brooke said what a good baby he is. I think he is finally on a schedule!
-Our little champ doesn't have any trouble switching to a bottle when he's at daycare, which is a huge relief for me!
-Caden is really a pretty easy going baby. We just love him to pieces!!
