An Update

It's been a while since I updated the blog... we finally got Internet service in our new house. We've had a lot happen in the last 6 weeks that I can't wait to catch up on.

First of all... we moved into our new house in South Jordan. I am so excited to say that I live in So Jo (mostly just so I could say So Jo)! I love being so close to family, friends, shopping, and work.

I plan on making a whole other post on just our house when we get our blinds installed, so for now you're just going to have to settle with this picture.
We absolutely love our new house! The layout of the house is almost exactly like our Richfield house, but this one has a finished backyard, basement, and bonus room. I didn't ever think that we would find anything that would compare to our Richfield house, but we managed to. This house doesn't have all the personal touches and upgrades that Tyler worked so hard on, but we love it just as much.

The move has taken up the majority of our time, but we did find time to do some fun things before I started work. We took Makayla to Lagoon for the first time. She had a blast! I can't wait to take her again next year when she can ride some of the other rides.

We took her on the train.

And the carousel. She LOVED it!!

We had to take a lot of breaks during the day to eat.
And by the end of the day she was o.u.t!
We also celebrated the best part of the year... my birthday!! I turned the big 28 this year. Tyler and Makayla spoiled me and gave me a way cute outfit.
Then Tyler surprised me and took me to the Sugarland concert. Best husband EVER!
I wish we could say we were this close, but we weren't. Our cousin had front row seats and I gave her my camera to take pictures.

Then we celebrated my national holiday with family parties. My mom is the best and got me cupcakes this year! I really do love my birthday more than any other day of the year.

As far as our Lovies goes, she has changed so much this last month. I took her to her 6 month checkup with her new doctor, Dr. Zarbock. She weighed 17 pounds (75%) and was 27 in long (75%).

A few highlights from this month:

Kayla loves her food. She likes to try all the different kinds of baby food. She also loves eating Mum mums (little rice cake like things).

She babbles all the time now. It's almost like she is telling us stories. Cutest thing ever!

Makayla started day care at Anne's house. Anne lives just down the street from us, which works out really well for us. Makayla loves to play with the other kids and follow the puppy around at day care.

She loves to snuggle with us.

Makayla got a few nicknames from her dad: Lovies and Schnookies

Makayla still does not like her binkie. We now use it as a play toy. She will put it in her mouth every way but the way it's supposed to go in her mouth.
Kayla is a great helper around the house. This particular day she was helping me with the laundry.
She likes to help Daddy play the piano.

 She loves her cousins!
But probably the biggest change in Kayla is that she is now crawling. It took her a few days to get the hang of it, but now she crawls all around the house. I have to keep a constant eye on her because she loves to play with everything she is not supposed to.

She is also sitting up all by herself. It makes play time more fun.
And only two weeks after crawling, Makayla started to pull herself up on furniture. She thinks she's pretty big now.
After a long day of crawling, climbing, and playing, our Lovies is worn out!
We sure do love this little girl!!

6 Month old Kayla

Remember when I was 6 months pregnant? Makayla was about a foot long and weighed 2 pounds inside my big belly.
Well guess who's 6 months old, weighs a lot more that 2 pounds, and is over two feet now?  Yup! Our little Princess is 6 months old!!!

Makayla has mastered a lot of new skills in the last month. The biggest is that she is close to crawling! She gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. I think I'm in big trouble when she starts crawling.
Another skill Makayla has learned (well it's not really a skill, but it is cute) she eats paper. Just like a good mom, I let her.
Mastering new facial expressions is at the top of Kayla's to do list for the month. This is her latest face. Pretty cute!
It may or may not have been provoked by pinching her nose.
Her smile is still the cutest.
Kayla can almost sit up by herself. Sometimes sitting up by yourself requires a lot of work, so Kayla would prefer to do tummy time. Besides, it is a whole lot more fun to just get on your tummy and roll around.
We've also started Makayla on baby food. This was her first time trying carrots.
 Yum!!
I think this facial expression sums up exactly how much she loved carrots.
Or this one. Not getting food all over her face and hands is not a skill Kayla has mastered yet.

This last weekend we headed up to the cabin. One of the horses just had a baby colt.

 What a cute family

Kind of like this cute family!
Anyone want to guess what movie this is from?
Yup! That's our little Simba and Rafiki!
And what's more fun than sitting on Grandpa?
I don't know if Craig or the kids were having more fun in this picture.
After a hard day of playing, our little Stinky Bugs was worn out. Makayla was pretty tired, too. :)

Kayla is just growing up too fast, but it is so fun to see her learning new things and discovering her world. I really can't believe that she is already 6 months old.

Remember When...

Our house in Richfield officially sold and we are all moved out. It was quite the emotional day when all of our stuff was gone and we just sat around in an empty house.

Remember when our house was just a hole in the ground?

And now it looks like this.
Remember when our kitchen used to be full of family and friends?
And now it looks like this.
Remember when it was just the two of us sitting on the front porch?
 And now there's three.
Remember how there used to be decorations on the wall that made it seem like a home?
And now the walls are empty.
Remember how Makayla's room was decorated so cute?
And now nothings in it?

Is it weird that we are so emotionally attached to our house? Maybe everyone goes through this when they move, but a few times it had me thinking that we had made the wrong decision. I just hope the Jepsons (the new owners) love our house as much as we did.

Tyler's new company hired a moving company for us, which made our move a whole lot easier. They showed up in a 26 ft trailer that was about 10 feet high. We didn't think there was anyway we would even fill it up.

The moving company even did all the packing. The one guy is giving a thumbs up sign, but I think he felt differently after he had individually wrapped all 200 of my glasses and plates

It would have taken us WEEKS to move all of our stuff, but they had it all done in 8 hours and didn't even take a break!

Makayla didn't take any breaks either. She just played with her toys the whole time. I did manage to get her down for a few short naps, but if this little girl thinks anything exciting is going on, she refuses to sleep.

Remember how I thought all our stuff wouldn't fill up the 26 ft truck? I was wrong.

NOTE TO SELF: You have a lot of stuff... maybe you should get rid of some of it.
In the end it doesn't really matter where we live or the house we have. All that matters is that we're together as a family and that our little girl is happy. And she certainly is!!
South Jordan here we come!!

Oneida Narrows Family Trip

My family has a new tradition of heading to Oneida Narrows in Idaho for my Dad's birthday. Can you believe he is 65? You wouldn't know it by this picture! Happy Birthday to the best dad we could ask for!!

We went to Oneida Narrows for the first time last year and we all couldn't wait to go again! Things were a little different this year, and because of Tyler's new job, he couldn't make it up until Saturday. We still had a lot of fun! We got to Oneida on Wednesday afternoon and were able to get two camping spots right next to each other. We set up camp and then headed to the lake. The kids had a blast jumping off the dock and playing. This was Kayla's first time camping, and I was a little worried how I would do it all by myself, but our little girl is the b.e.s.t. baby ever! She just chilled most of the time. All of her cousins played with her and gave her a ton of attention, so she was happy! I didn't get a ton of pictures of our trip, but here's a few cute ones...

Last year, I was prego so I couldn't go skiing. I didn't know if I would be able to get up again, but I got up on my first try. I forgot how exhausting water skiing is. You wouldn't know I was exhausted by the looks of this picture.  Sometimes I think I'm funny...

My water skiing skills are nowhere near my brothers. Here's Ryan showing off his skills.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Darren wake boarding because our boat broke down on the third day. Our luck ran out again when Darren lost the fins to the wake board. Even though the boat broke down, we still had a lot of fun floating down the river, catching crawdads, sitting by the fire, telling stories, and laughing. I absolutely love being with my family! I can't wait to go again next year!!

Family, Fireworks, and Fun!

Happy 4th of July!
I love the 4th...not as much as my birthday or Christmas, but a close 3rd! This year things were a little hectic because we've been spending our weekends searching for our new dream home (I think we found it... but more on that in another post!). We didn't make it up to The Land until late Saturday night. Even though we didn't have a lot of time, we still had a lot of fun with our families!

Carson, Colton, and Makayla had fun together
We spent a good portion of the weekend painting the garage. Carson and Colton even helped with the big task.
Makayla, on the other hand, just chilled in her chair. It's tough work being an adorable baby!
We did find some time for playing, eating, and laughing together.

On Monday we had a BBQ with my side of the family. My camera was dead, so I didn't get any pictures, but the kids had so much fun playing together and doing fireworks when it was finally dark. I absolutely LOVE being back in Salt Lake and spending time with our families! Even though our move has been tough for us, we love being back up here!!

P.S. Just thought I would post this picture of The Land taken a few weeks ago, just to show how much snow and rain we have had this year. This is over Wolf Creek Pass on the way to the Land. It has been kind of scary because of flooding this year, but I think now the worst of it is finally over!
Crazy, huh?!
