Kayla's first Piggies

Makayla's hair is long enough for piggie tails now! I picked her up from the baby sitter the other day and Brooke had done her hair. It was the cutest thing ever! I didn't even know Kayla's hair was long enough to do anything with it, but I went out that night and got little elastics so that I could do her hair everyday now.

Surprisingly she will leave the bows in all day. But my favorite part is at night when we take out her piggies and her hair still sticks straight up!

Happy 29th Birthday Tyler!

My Hubby turned 29!!

We partied for weeks before Tyler's actual birthday, and sadly I forgot to take pictures at all of these events. A few weeks ago we went to dinner at El Rancho Grande with the Evans' for Tyler and Jeremy's birthday dinner. Then last week we got together with Tyler's family for another combined party. Tyler got spoiled with candy and gifts and a lot of Happy Birthday songs!

Last Thursday was his actual birthday. He had to work, but he was able to get off early to go with me to a doctor's appointment. When we got home I made Tyler his usual birthday dinner: Lasagna. Then we opened presents!

 Makayla made Daddy a card
And gave him a lunch box for work so that Daddy's co-workers would stop  making fun of him for bringing a huge cooler.
And I gave him a trimmer for the yard. Not the most exciting gift, but Tyler liked it!

I felt like we should do something exciting that night, but all Tyler wanted to do was relax and watch t.v. So we watched our favorite shows: Dance Moms and Biggest Loser!

Happy Birthday Tyler! Thanks for being the best husband and dad. We love you so much.

There's a Whole Lotta Love Around Here!

It's a day all about LOVE... so here's a few of my LOVES:
My Hubby
My cute little girl
My little man in the oven.

We had a great Valentine's Day this year. Here's a few highlights from the day:

Sometimes I wonder if Makayla loves her blankie more than anything else.
But we sure love her more than anything else. This was her cute Valentine's outfit.
And I love these two more than anything else! Tyler had to go out of town the day before Valentine's, but he was able to get home a little earlier that night so we could take out our Valentine's treats.
We had heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphey's for dinner
And Kayla helped me make sugar cookies.
We also made chocolate dipped strawberries... YUM!
We took our treats to Grandma and Grandpa Thomas and Evans. Our plan backfired on us because they weren't home, but we still had fun.
We knocked on the door then ran away as fast as Kayla would go.
Makayla was really confused by the whole process. She thought she was at Grandma and Grandpa's to play and didn't want to leave.

So she threw a little fit at the bottom of the stairs.
We finally got her distracted enough to leave.
But don't worry, Grandma and Grandpa Thomas and Grandma and Grandpa Evans ended up coming over that night and spoiling Makayla with Valentine's treats and toys!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A First Birthday fit for a Princess!

Seriously, can this little princess get any cuter? It's so hard to believe that one year ago we were taking out little girl home from the hospital. Makayla has been the best thing that has ever happened to us! And now she's one year old!
This was her birthday outfit.. doesn't she look adorable?

She wasn't too happy about having to wear this princess crown. Sometimes being a princess is hard work.
We had a big party for Makayla on Saturday. I have been so excited for her birthday and have been planning it for months. I told Tyler a few months ago that I couldn't decide what kind of theme I wanted for her party and Tyler said, "why can't the theme be 'birthday party'?" I explained that it was too simple and we needed to have a princess party. Sometimes men just don't get it! :) But thanks Tyler for just going with what I want to do.

This was Makayla in front of her birthday sign and balloons.
We had both sides of the family over for her party. It was a little hectic with 35 people, but we were so happy that everyone could make it to celebrate Makayla's birthday.

We played "Kiss the Frog" I didn't get any pictures of this event, but all the little kids had fun.
We also played "How well do you know our Princess Makayla" for the adults. It was fun to see how many random facts people knew about Makayla.

Then Makayla got spoiled with a lot of cute toys and clothes! P.S. ignore this unflattering picture of me. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I'm definitely feeling huge.

We had princess cupcakes and cake
And Makayla got her own little cake on her princess plate.
I think this was my favorite part of the night watching her eat her cake.
First we sang "Happy Birthday". I had to help her blow out her candle.
At first she didn't really know what to think of the cake. She made a funny face until she tasted the frosting... then she was hooked.

Makayla loved her cake!! And she made a mess of her face and highchair. Tyler had the fun job of giving her a bath after.
Thanks to everyone who came to Makayla's party. She had so much fun!

Here are some fun things about our little princess at 1 year old:
  • Her favorite foods are any kind of fruit (especially bananas), yogurt, rice, and Teddy Grahams.

  • At her 1 year check up, she weighed 21 lbs (75%) and was 30 inches (95%)
  • She is getting a little personality. She is so sweet, but definitely has a mind of her own. When she wants something, she is determined to get it.
  • She jabbers all the time.
  • Makayla has 4 teeth. We're trying to teach her good brushing habits now.
Don't you just love how her arm is? It's like she was just relaxing in the sink!
  • She loves to climb the stairs... we just have to master going down the stairs now.
  • She is walking all over the house.

  • Makayla loves to watch Baby Einstein movies. I found her sitting this close to the t.v. the other day watching it.

Sometimes she'll sit on the couch to watch her movies.
  •  She loves to make messes. Her favorite thing to do now is to take everything out of the box and put it back in... even herself!
And she still loves her blankie more than anything. You should see the corners of all her blankies... they are stained from her sucking on them. It is just too cute though.

Happy Birthday to our little Princess!

Starting the Year Off Right

Happy 2012!!
We spent our New Years at The Land with Tyler's family. We had so much fun playing games, taking naps, eating, watching movies, and playing the Wii. The weather was cold, but there was no snow on the ground, so the boys could go out and play. On New Years Eve we wanted to get our party started early. Makayla was all ready for the fun in her jammies.
These are the Lurps we got to spend New Years Eve with... we had a blast!
We played Just Dance for Kids and Mario Olympics on the Wii all night long.
And had fun with the coasters.
We knew the kids would be up at 5 the next morning regardless what time we went to bed, so we came up with this great idea to celebrate New Years Eve early... at 8:00 (We might not be able to get away with that when the kids learn to tell time). So at 8:15, we got the pots and pans and went outside to welcome in the New Year.
After we got all the kids to bed, the adults played Ten Penny Rummy and then we all went to bed at 11:30. It's funny how your life changes after you have kids. I would much rather go to sleep now than stay up until midnight!

Since it's the new year, I should share our New Years Resolutions. This year Tyler and I resolved to slow down. I don't know if that is possible with an almost one year old and a new baby on the way, but we are certainly going to try.

Makayla's New Year's resolution was to walk... and guess what she did on New Year's Eve? Took her first steps!!

It was so fun that she took her first steps at The Land because 2 years ago when we were up there for New Years Eve, Colton took his first steps too. We know The Land will be like her second home, so we're excited she picked there to walk. And it was so fun to have all the family there to see her big milestone!

Makayla is still a little shaky when she walks, and she still prefers to crawl, but she's getting the hang of things now. I'll admit I'm a little sad to see her walk. Not only will things get harder, but it means she's growing up even faster than I wish she would.
Here's to a great 2012! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!
