A Little Get Away

This summer is flying by faster than we want. With Tyler starting a new job this year, he doesn't have much availability to go on a trip, but we wanted to get away for a little bit, so we decided to go down to Mesquite for a little get away. It was a quick trip, but so much fun.

We stopped in St. George for lunch at the Pizza Factory.

A couple stopped us on their way out and told us how cute of a family we had. It really made my whole day.

After lunch we went to explore the St. George slot canyons. It was fun, but so miserably hot!!
The slot canyons were so cool!

All the kids loved climbing on the rocks.

We finally made it to Mesquite and the kids watched me gamble for a little bit and lose my money. I hope they learned from my example why gambling is so dumb.
We had dinner at the casino that night where the kids got to try oysters and crab.

We loved this vacation because the kids would wake up and swim for a few hours before it got too hot. Then we would go bowling or go to a movie where we could cool off. Then the kids would go swimming again until the pool closed.

The only bad thing is that Caden and Makayla got really bad sun blisters on their lips. They were so bad and spread all over their lips. Makayla kept picking at hers to the point they were bleeding. Poor kids!

It was a quick trip, but so much fun.  Can someone please explain where this child came from?

Funny story... we were on our way home in the 117 degree heat and Makayla kept complaining that it was so hot. We told her to adjust the vents so it was on her, but she just kept whining. We thought she was just trying to get out of being in the very back of the Buick, but when we stopped in St. George to fill up with gas, we felt the vents and they were not blowing any cold air at all. We felt so bad for Makayla! Our vents were working in the front, but they were not in the back. Luckily we were able to get the vents in the front to blow to the back and we made it back home.

Remember how I was rear ended back in December? Turns out it did some damage to the a/c system and that's why it was so hot. We got the problem fixed and now we can drive comfortably during this very hot summer.

Let's Celebrate!

June is always such a fun month because we have so much to celebrate.

June 20 was our 13th anniversary. We celebrated with a stay cation in Salt Lake. Remember back in February when we were supposed to go out on a little Valentine's get away, but Brynnli came down with the flu? Well we were able to move our hotel stay to a weekend in June. We stayed in a hotel downtown and went to lunch at our favorite P.F. Changs. Then we were supposed to go to dessert at The Melting Pot, but missed our reservation. We decided to try going to Keys on Main and we ended up having so much fun! I think that may be our new anniversary tradition.

June is also another important anniversary. This year was our 4 year family sealing anniversary. We had a yummy steak and shrimp dinner outside and talked about what we love the most about our family and made some fun plans for the future.

After dinner we went to Hokulia for some snow cones.

Bella even got her own plain snow cone... aka water.

We also get to celebrate our favorite daddy for Father's day. We love Tyler so much and are so grateful for all he does for our family.

We got together with our family to celebrate all the great dads in our family and snapped this classic picture... the kids have done the head tilt so many times it just comes naturally now.
You know what Father's day means... new matching 4th of July shirts.
Before you know it Independence day will be here!

Sunshine and Summertime

I just wanted to start out this month's blog with a little bit of truth:

Yes, Bella is obsessed with me, and I'm ok with it. We love this little Muggies so much. Bella got a haircut and I think we all wondered if we got the same dog back. Bella looks so different in her before and after.

Okay, okay, sometimes I have to share Bella with the rest of the family and the good news is that Bella loves the rest of the family just as much as she loves me.
What are summer nights perfect for? Outdoor movies with friends.
Now that it's summer we spend the majority of our morning in our pajamas playing with toys.
We went to the So Jo Summerfest. We walked around, played in the playground and then enjoyed the fireworks.

The biggest concern in America now is the rising cost of food, gas, and necessities. The cost of almost everything is rising and inflation is really impacting our everyday life. Look how much it cost to fill up our Buick.
We ran into some friends at Lagoon. Caden and Johnny are in the same grade and the height difference is too cute.
We were getting ready for our upcoming vacation and Brynnli was working on her packing list. She included "swiming soot, 1 Bajamas, and 1 andees". Good thing mom checks her suitcase, or Brynnli would be out of luck in the underwear and clothing department.

Caden and Brynnli are taking swimming lessons this year with their cousins Camden and Kenzee. It's kind of sad because Makayla is done with swimming lessons now.
What makes ice cream better? Sharing it with dad.
Poor Brynnli got a hold of some nasty bug that really wiped her out. She had to miss dance. Colds in the summer are no fun.
Tyler and I got to see Garth Brooks again this year. If you remember he came last year and the concert sold out within 45 minutes. He said at the last concert he would be back so that everyone who wanted a ticket had a chance to purchase one, so we decided to go again.
This concert was just as good as last years, but maybe just a little bit better because Garth Brooks' wife, Trisha Yearwood sang a few songs with him, including my favorite song, "Shallow"

It was an amazing concert and a great start to Summer.

School's Out for the Summer!

This year seriously went by so fast. How is it already the end of school? Our kids all had the best year with the best teachers.

Here's their first and last day of school pictures. Look how much each of them has grown. They all look so much older.

Let the summer fun begin!
