Grandma Draper

My cute Grandma Draper turned 93 on August 4th. Can you believe it? She has been in really good health up until the last few years and has been able to stay in her home. My mom and aunt and uncle go out to her house everyday to make sure she eats and takes her pills, but my parents have been telling me lately that my grandma has been going down hill. She can't see or hear very well, she's been sleeping a lot more, and she's struggles with dementia. A few years ago I would go out and see her every Tuesday with my mom, but it became too hard for me and for my grandma because of our kids, so I haven't seen her for a few years. I decided to take our kids out to see Grandma Draper and wish her a happy birthday.

Even though she's 93, my grandma is still pretty witty. When I asked her what she did for her birthday she told me she got plastered! So funny! Then a few minutes later when I asked her something about being plastered, she looked at me and said, "did I say that?"

I told my Grandma I wanted to take a selfie and she looked at herself in the photo and said, "Who's that old lady?"
I think going out to my Grandma Draper's house made me sentimental. I remember growing up I loved when I was off track because that meant I got to have a sleepover at my Grandma and Grandpa Draper's house. As soon as we would get there she would take us to the store and we could pick out whatever cereal we wanted for breakfast the next morning. Then she would take us to the dollar store and we could pick out any toy. She always had coloring books and crayons at her house that I loved to color in. I would always put on a show for her in her living room while "Foot Loose" would play on her record player.

When my Grandpa Draper was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease she refused to put him in a rest home and insisted she could take care of him... and she did until he died peacefully in his home. I've always admired her for that decision. My Grandma Draper is one of the strongest people I know... and she's probably the funniest 93 year old grandma out there.

I'm so glad I got to go out to her house and see her because my grandma ended up needing to go to a rest home where she could get 24 hour care. It's hard to see her go into a rest home because she doesn't like it, but it's better for her to have round the clock care. I love my Grandma Draper!

The Good and The Bad, and the Ugly of July

The first part of July was incredibly busy for us, but then it was like everything stopped and we had nothing to do. Funny how that goes. July was incredibly hot and I felt like we stayed inside most of the time trying to stay cool.

My Bestie Emily got married on July 7th to Kirk Fife. We were so excited we were able to see them sealed in the Jordan River Temple.

I went to mutual one night and got this hilarious text/ pictures from Tyler. I guess Brynnli had a blow out in her underwear and didn't make it to the bathroom in time. I have never been so happy to be out of the house!

Tyler: I guess it's a good thing you left.
Me: Oh my gosh! That is hilarious! I am so happy I'm not home right now.
Tyler telling me what Brynn said: "Oh no, oh no, I gots poop in my pants. Aah! Get it off! Get it off! Ewe it's on my noodle. There's poop everywhere! Wahhhhhh!"

Like I said, the ugly of July.

We stopped by my parents house to drop off some cupcakes to my dad on his birthday.
Then stopped at 7-11 for free Slurpee Day!
Tyler and I got a text from Tammy at 7:00 p.m. asking if we could find a babysitter and go to the Pentatonix concert in an hour. Lucky for us we had just gone to dinner with our neighbors and my parents were already watching our kids, so we went to the concert! It was fun because we were basically on the front row. I didn't know any of the songs, but we had a great time.

Then the very next night we went to see Keith Urban!! Eeek! I love going to concerts with Tyler!
 We also love funnel cake.

One Saturday morning my worst nightmare came true. I had to take all three kids grocery shopping with me... on a Saturday... it was rough.
But that night we went on a family date. We got pizza went to a park to play.

I bought the Megaplex summer movie pass so we have seen about 10 kid movies this summer. I am getting really good at taking a nap during the movie.
 Lunch at the park!

Caden is starting baseball in the fall, so Tyler and the kids have been practicing their baseball skills.

We went to Kids Club at the mall and Rapunzel was there to read the kids a story. It was so cute!

Makayla wanted her hair curly so we braided it and had her sleep on it overnight... here's the result.
The kids love to have lemonade stands this summer. This one was with her friend Katie.

I think it's about time to put Makayla in her own room. Brynnli makes these huge messes in their room and Makayla usually ends up cleaning it up. Brynnli is not the cleanest roommate.

As if we didn't see enough kid movies this summer, we had a cousin movie night to see Incredibles 2. If you were wondering what Brynnli is like at 3 years old, watch the movie because I'm pretty sure they used Brynnli as the inspiration for Jack-Jack.

The kids decided to have a sleepover upstairs in the tent they built. I think the only one who made it all night was Makayla.

This was the girls' last night in their room together. We decided to move Makayla to the bonus room. As soon as we get her all settled and the room decorated, I'll have to post pictures of each of their new rooms.

Brynnli has really been wanting a new bike, so we gave her Makayla's old one. It has a flat tire that can't be fixed, but that doesn't seem to stop Brynn.

Poor Makayla caught some kind of bug that made her sick for a few days. Poor girl!
Whelp, that's all for July folks!

Fourth of July Fun!

We had another great 4th of July this year, full of fun festivities.

We headed up to The Land for the 4th. The kids wanted to run the 5k again this year. I told Tyler and Tracy they could run ahead and I would stay with Colton and Makayla. The funny thing was that the entire way I felt like I was pushing them along. I would tell them, "Let's just run to the next tree and then we can walk." Well we got almost to the end and I told them they just had to run to the next corner and we would be done, so they took off and I tried to catch up with them but they were too fast. I ended up finishing up almost a minute behind them, when all along I was ahead of them!
I'm proud of these kids! It's not easy to run 3 miles, but they all did it.

Then we were off to the funnest parade. It was perfect weather (in fact it was just a little bit cold), the parade was nice and short, and the kids got a lot of candy.

Hey, why didn't the pony sing in the circus?
Because he was a little horse... get it? (Tyler, that was for you!)

I fear this child has developed an addiction to Dr. Pepper, just like her mom.
We love celebrating Independence Day at our favorite vacation spot!
On the actual 4th of July we had my parents and Ryan's family over for a bar-b-q as an early birthday party/ 4th of July party.

Then we headed to West Jordan City Park for their fireworks show. It was great!
The flash might have been a little too bright... sorry!

Fireworks, family and fun... can't ask for a better way to spend the 4th!
