Thank You Firefighters

Remember how our kids had a few lemonade stands throughout the summer? They earned $45 from their hard work. And remember how the kids said they wanted to donate their money to the firefighters? I thought they would forget about it and decide to spend their money on a toy or candy or something, but the kids were adamant they wanted to donate it. Well I finally contacted the fire department to see how they wanted the donation. I was thinking we could go to the fire station and just give them the money, but when I talked to the Fire Chief, he was so impressed that the kids were donating their money and he wanted to do something extra special for the kids. He offered to bring their fire truck to our house and give the kids a special tour. How cool is that? There was even a photographer from the city newspaper who was documenting the whole thing!

The kids made a great poster to give to the firefighters.

*Dear Firefighters. You must be very hot. Have a drink. Love, Caden
*Dear Firefighters. I want to give you the money cause you help my town. From Makayla.
Dear Firefighters, you are the best! Thanks for stopping the fires. Thank you. From Brynnli.

The fire department came to our house with the sirens blaring. The kids served them lemonade and cookies.

They talked to the kids about fire safety and gave them a tour of the truck.

And of course they posed for a group picture.

Then the kids gave them their sign and the $45 dollars they earned. The firefighters said they were going to match the donation and buy teddy bears for kids who are scared when they need the firefighters help in a scary situation.

Do you want to know one of the kids' favorite parts? South Jordan City posted the videos and pictures on Facebook! The kids thought they were famous.

We are so proud of our kids. They are truly the best kids who want to help others. I am so proud that they donated their hard earned money to such a great cause.

Labor Day 2019

Can you think of anywhere else we would be on Labor Day? If you guessed The Land, you're right!

We had a great weekend getaway to the Land full of hard work, eating, games, and lots of fun. I love that The Land has become our second home and our kids absolutely love coming here!

The kids love to run into the land as soon as we get to the gate. I never want to forget this picture because they are SO excited to be back.
The kids are all getting big enough to ride the 4 wheelers by themselves and they love it. They could spend all day riding them around the Land if we would let them.

We got to go fishing. We didn't catch any fish, but Caden just likes to cast his reel out anyway.

We all worked hard cutting down some trees and moving all the waste to the bon fire pit. I think we were just a little bit tired.

I guess this is the summer version of sledding?

Yep... working again. I guess that's what you do on Labor Day, right?

Until we see you again Chocolate and Marshmallow. It looks like they are having a great time by the campfire.
On the way home we saw a trailer that was on fire on the freeway. Pretty scary!

Back to School Time

"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

Just kidding. I say that I'm ready for the kids to go back to school, but the truth is that I love having them home in the summer. I love that we can be lazy and sleep in. I love that we can do fun things during the day. I love that we don't have to do homework every night. And I really am going to miss these cuties while they're in school all day.

Caden is in 2nd grade this year and his teacher is Mrs. Vea
Caden wants to be a professional baseball player and his favorite subjects are drama, P.E, and Lunch.

Makayla is in 3rd grade this year and her teacher is Mrs. Huish.
Makayla wants to be a professional gymnast when she grows up and her favorite subjects are drama and P.E.

They are so ready to take on the year and I know they will do so great and learn so much this year because they are amazing, smart, and kind kids!

Then just a few days later Brynnli had her first day of her second year at Little Learners Academy Preschool.

Brynnli wants to be a ballerina when she grows up and her favorite subject is singing time. Oh, and her teachers are Miss Aubrey and Miss Karly... AKA the dream team because her teachers are so good!

As I look at these pictures, I just can't believe how fast time is going.
