Luck O' the Irish!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We must have been so busy this month because the kids didn't even realize it was St. Patrick's day and they didn't even try to set a trap for the leprechaun. No worries, though because he still brought our kids some treats and surprises and played his funny jokes on us.

The kids got Krispie Kreme dounts and Sprite with some fun green socks so they don't get pinched.

And in case you were wondering, yes he did turn our milk green and pee in the toilet. I agree with Brynn here, Lucky needs to learn how to flush, because it is disgusting!!

Will You Be My Valentine?

It's a day of love around here and we are ready! Brynn is looking extra festive with her red and pink outfit for Valentine's day.
We celebrated Valentine's day with a fancy steak dinner and panookies for dessert. Bella even got a little treat.

I love these three so much and look forward to any day I can tell them how much I love them.
Happy Valentine's Day!!

It's a Love Story

What a better way to start out our February blog update than a picture of our cutie puppy, freshly groomed.

Brynnli used her own money to buy her a hydro jug. Hydro jugs are the latest and greatest water bottles because they are potty trained... basically it keeps your drink cold all day, but it has a collapsible straw so it doesn't leak. 1st world problems, right? Regardless I am proud of Brynn for saving her own money and buying something she really wanted.
I got a sneak peak of 2 of Makayla's dances because the girls performed at the Copper Hills Drill showcase. Their lyrical dance is my favorite and their hip hop dance is so fun. I can't wait for comp season!

Brynn and her best friend Hazel wrote a book together. It's called, "The Pig who ate Bacon" and let me tell you, it is a page turner!!  Not only did the girls show that they know irony, but they made the book funny too! The girls are so cute and so creative together. The book was complete with illustrations, and a "about the authors" page.

While Makayla and I were celebrating her friend party, Tyler took the other two to Kneaders for breakfast.
Super Bowl means we get to celebrate Tyler and Jeremy's birthday.
On Tuesday nights Tyler, Makayla, and Caden are all at church activities, so me and Brynn get to spend one on one time together. This particular night we went to get some donuts and Brynn told me all about life in the 4th grade.
Caden is playing another season with Dream Team. We love watching our #35. Caden is doing so great in basketball. He even practices on his days off. Caden shows a lot of dedication and hard work to the sport he loves.
Competition season is officially here. The girls performed their solos for the first time at America Onstage. Brynn is doing a wedding themed jazz dance. I love her costume. Brynn did great at took 1st place!

Makayla is doing a contemporary piece called, "Life as a dream". It is basically a poem and Makayla is really having to stretch her story telling skills and emotional expression. Her dance is so beautiful! I think I say this every year, but her solo this year is my favorite solo she has ever done. Makayla also got 1st place at this competition.

I hosted a CNO night. This was the first cousin night out where all 10 girl cousins were able to come. I was always jealous that I never had any sisters, but these cousins help me to feel like I do have sisters. They are all such good examples to me. Many of them have been through really tough times, and their strength is admirable. We always have a great time and laugh a lot when we get together.
All three kids ended up having their orthodontist appointments on the same day. It was so nice to take them all together. It looks like Caden will be getting his second set of braces later this year and Makayla and Brynnli should be getting their's off in the next few months!
Also, you are never too old to color at the orthodontist office.
Church ball is in full swing again this year. Caden loves to spend all Thursday nights playing with the deacons and if the older kids don't have enough players to make a team, Caden gets to play with them too.
This one particular night Caden was playing with the priests, who are 15-18 years old and obviously much taller than Caden. Caden was getting frustrated and one of the kids on his team pulled him aside during a time out and told him to get open and he would throw the ball to him. The play worked perfectly and Caden was able to score a few baskets. I tell ya, sometimes teens get a bad rap, but there are some amazing kids in this world.
Brynn is ready for spring in her new neon pink dance wear.
Caden's turn to go to the Jazz game with a free crubml cookie!!

Makayla Turns 14

This amazing girl turned 14 on January 28!! We love Makayla so much and are so impressed with the amazing teenager she is. We love the opportunity to celebrate the girl that made us "mom and dad".

Makayla woke up early on her birthday and opened her outfit. Makayla wanted a Dandy sweatshirt. Apparently it is the cool thing to have, but at $100 I thought it should have been made out of gold.

Makayla went to school for a few hours and then I checked her out to take her to lunch and to get her haircut. Makayla is so responsible and made her own hair appointment. Makayla wanted Mo Bettah's for lunch and we had so much fun catching up on the latest and greatest in the 8th grade.
Makayla's haircut is so cute on her... very trendy, very demure.
Once the kids got home from all their activities, we went to dinner at Olive Garden. We were carb loaded and feeling good after our meal.
Then we came home and Makayla got to open her presents. Caden and Brynnli gave her a Flynn Ryder doll from the movie Tangled because Makayla said he is her celebrity crush.
She got new shoes and clothes from mom and dad. Gone are the days when she wanted toys and I'm just not ok with it.
We ended the night with Twisted Sugar cookies.
Next was Makayla's family party. I made this cute fruit board to celebrate our 14 year old.

We played "Would she rather" for the game. It had questions on it like, "Hawaii or Paris" and "Early bird or night owl" and our family had to guess what Makayla would choose.
Tracy took 1st place, Colton took 2nd, and Kenzee took 3rd place. If I was allowed to play, I would be in 1st place.
Then we sang "Happy Birthday" like 5 times before Makayla opened her gifts. She got all her favorites like gift cards, money and a new cell phone case.

Then she blew out the candles on her birthday cake

A few weeks later we had a combined friend party. Makayla's best friend, Brooke, has a birthday just a week later than Makayla, and the girls schemed a "Staycation" for a combined friend party. We got a hotel room at the Little America Hotel. Each girl brought a board full of treats and goodies.

We went down town to City Creek and the girls did a little bit of shopping, then we went back to the hotel for swimming and pizza.

The girls stayed up until 2 am talking and laughing. Good thing Brooke's mom and I had our own room so we could actually get some sleep that night. Makayla has the best group of friends and they all have so much fun together.

I was so happy we could celebrate Makayla all month long. Makayla is a great daughter, an amazing dancer, an excellent student, and a loyal friend. Makayla knows what she likes and what she wants and she's not afraid to pursue it. Makayla has proven herself to be responsible, organized, a little bit of a clean freak, and a skin care expert. It is truly an honor to raise such an amazing girl and I can't wait to see what her future holds.
